Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis Awareness

Let me start out by saying thanks so much for all the kind comments and emails I received after putting up the initial Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis post on Monday. When I was first diagnosed with this condition I felt like very much alone. Even though I had the support of my husband, family, and friends...I still didn't think many people understood what I was going through. It really means a lot to me hearing from all of you. Getting my story out there is almost a form of therapy and makes me feel less ashamed about it all. It is what it is...and getting out information and fundraising for a cure/education about endometriosis is super important to me. I would be so happy if everyone could donate a little to the cause. Please click here to make a donation through PayPal. All donations will be going to the Endometriosis Foundation of America

Endo hurts. Badly. Before I knew I even had endometriosis I felt fine. I felt like my normal self. Everything changed when my doctor checked my ovaries during a routine check-up. I felt like I was being stabbed on my left side. When my doctor noticed that I have endo in my family he suggested that I go through some testing to be sure. Endometriosis??? I was shocked. He asked if my periods were painful...and of course I said yes. But I thought monthly pain was normal...for everyone. You always hear people complain, and I didn't know anything different. When I thought of endo I thought of the people I know that have it who literally can't get out of bed due to the pain. That wasn't me. I told my doctor this and he stated that I could just have a very high pain tolerance.

The next step was to have a pelvic ultrasound done. I'm not going to lie...this hurt. A lot. Probably due to the vast amount of endo that I had in my body. The result from this test was that I had an endometrioma cyst (AKA chocolate cyst) growing in and on my ovary that was the size of an egg. My doctor wanted to wait six weeks to see if it would grow or change. So I had to have another pelvic ultrasound done (ugh!). After the second one was done they told me that it grew to the size of a lemon. Now the pain really started to kick in because it was really starting to stretch my ovary. The pain was so terrible! I would come home from work and just go to bed, take my pain medicine (that typically didn't really work), and cry. I knew deep down that surgery really was my only option.

As you can see from the photo above, I am now all smiles. You would be too if the worst pain of your life suddenly stopped. Surgery might not be the answer for everyone with endometriosis, but it worked for me. What makes me not smile is the fact that endo will most likely return to my life one day. I had so much in me that the doctor took out as much as he could...but there was no way he could take it all out. So until the pain returns I'm going to keep this smile on my face and try not to think about my endo future...because that just gives me serious anxiety.

Natalie's New Look

A few days ago Natalie Portman debuted her new hairstyle. Natalie dyed her hair blonde for an upcoming movie role. And no, it isn't as drastic as when she shaved her head a few years ago...but the internet is buzzing about this new blonde do.

I want to know what you think of this look on her. Do you think she should keep it after the filming of her movie is done? Personally, I prefer Natalie as a brunette...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she returns to her darker locks.

Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis Awareness

You may remember me telling you all how I had to have surgery last month for endometriosis. When I talked with people about my condition I got one of three reactions: 1) I never heard of endometriosis. What is that?, 2) I know someone with endometriosis, or 3) I have endometriosis too. Most people that I spoke with about this didn't even know what endometriosis was unless they had it or knew someone that...and that was just crazy to me. Since this condition affects an estimated 176 million women worldwide (over 5 million in the United States alone), I would hope that endometriosis would get more attention as far as women's health is concerned...and I am determined to do just that.

It is unbelievable to me that just over a month ago I was in so much pain that I could barely move, was on serious pain killers, and would cry myself to sleep every night. The pain was so bad that I literally begged my doctor to move my surgery date sooner (and he was awesome enough to move his schedule around to make it happen). Just over a month since my surgery and I'm feeling amazing. As you can see, I can now go out and walk my dog (isn't Rocko the cutest???)...all with a smile on my face. Surgery worked for me...but the thing about pesky endometriosis is that it will more than likely come back. There is no real cure for endo, which I find so upsetting.

After my experience with endo I wanted to do something to get the word out about this condition. Putting a fundraiser together with some of my favorite fashion bloggers that were sweet enough to donate their time (and blogs) to getting the word out there seemed only natural.

For the next two weeks the Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis Awareness that I organized will accepting donations. All donations will be sent to the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA). I'm hoping that with all of our blogs working together we can raise a large donation for them.

Please click to DONATE via PayPal to the Endometriosis Foundation of America. Every little bit helps!!! I ask that you use the donation link above to donate so that we can keep track on just how much we all have raised...and in turn I will keep everyone up to date on the success of this fundraiser.

Emmy Awards- What I Hope They Wear

One of the fun things about watching the red carpet before award shows is guessing what my favorite stars will be wearing. I do think that this year there will be pops of color, sparkles, and bold designs. Here are the dress I would love to see on the red carpet this Sunday.

I would love it if Zooey Deschanel wore this Christian Dior dress from their Fall 2012 Couture Collection. I think if I were to dress for the awards and could wear any dress in the world...it would be this one. It's so flattering and fun. Do you see that pop of hot pink? It's so quirky...like Zooey.

I would be so happy to see Julie Bowen in this emerald Elie Saab dress from Fall 2012 Ready To Wear. The color would look so amazing against her skin tone and blonde hair. She would be so stunning in this.

I adore Giuliana Rancic and I am always looking forward to see what the E! Red Carpet host will be wearing. She would look so fabulous in this Erin Fetherston Fall 2012 Ready To Wear dress. She would look so statuesque...like a goddess...don't you agree???

Seems like a lot of funny ladies never seem to get their award show look spot on. Kristen Wiig is one of these girls. I love her to death...but seems as though she either just tries to hard or not hard enough. I think this Alice + Olivia Fall 2012 Ready To Wear dress would be so perfect for her. It's fun and bold like her, and she won't have to worry about accessories with it...because the dress speaks for itself.

Julianna Margulies would be so stunning in this J. Mendel dress from Fall 2012 Ready To Wear. The color would set her apart from the rest and we'd be talking about this dress for weeks.

What are your thoughts about my picks? Are there any designs or colors that you are hoping show up at the Emmy Awards?

Don't forget that on Sunday, September 23rd from 6pm-8pm eastern time I will be hosting a Google+ Hangout for E!'s Emmy Awards red carpet. If you are interested please email me so I can get you on the list!

Snapshot Fashion Is On Fiverr

I have been hearing about Fiverr for some time now, and recently went out there to see what all the fuss is about. I have to say, this site is so much fun! If you have never heard about Fiverr let me explain what it is. Basically, it is a website where you can buy or sell services for $5 a pop. Some of the services are very creative, helpful, and even funny.

I made an account on there for Snapshot Fashion where I will give fashion advice. Be sure to stop on by and check it out. I will be updating my gigs regularly, so be sure to keep checking back!

Anastasia Beverly Hills- Want You To Want Me & Kisses On My List Kits

I am absolutely obsessed with Anastasia Beverly Hills makeup. Not only is their makeup of amazing quality, but their packaging (and promotional advertisements) are so fun and pretty! The other week I was happy to receive two great kits from my friends at Anastasia Beverly Hills.

The Want You To Want Me Eye Shadow Palette ($34)- this kit is so cool because it come in a handy (and adorable) little clutch. Complete with nine shadows, black liquid liner, and brow gel...it's a great kit to keep handy while on the go or even while traveling.

Their Kisses On My List Gloss Set ($30)- this set features six high-shine ultra-hydrating glosses in matte and shimmer shades. What I love most about these glosses is that they last all day. They come in beautiful pinks and corals that work with just about every skin tone.

Be sure to stop by Sephora or Anastasia.net to purchase these kits.

Google+ Hangout- 2012 Emmy Awards

This Sunday the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be televised and I couldn't be more excited. I have to admit, these are probably my favorite awards to watch. I'm not hip with new music...so I almost never watch the Grammy Awards. I can't tell you the last time I went to see a movie in the theater...so when the Academy Awards are on I typically haven't seen any that are nominated. But I do watch my fair share of television. Maybe too much???

I have hosted a number of Google+ Hangouts for award shows in the past, and thought it would be a blast to do this again. It seems that as of recently people are starting to get very interested with Google+ Hangouts. Personally, I think they are so much fun! If you have no idea what a hangout is, or haven't tried one yet let me explain. It is a multi-person video chat. Up to ten people can chat in one session. It's so cool!

There are two rules that I have for this hangout session-
1) You must have the E! channel to join. It would be really silly to join in on the conversation if you couldn't see what we are talking about.
2) Please make sure that you have an idea on how to use Google+ Hangout prior to the hangout session. Make sure your webcam and microphone are working. In the past there have been a lot of people that wanted to join in and didn't know what they were doing...which had them miss the video chat. If you are asking what is Google+, you need to have a gmail account to access this.

This Sunday tune into E! for their red carpet coverage starting at 6pm eastern time. We'll be chatting about our favorite (and least favorite) looks as we see them live until 8pm eastern time. You do not have to be there for the entire two hours. If you are interested in joining in on the fun be sure to email me and I will get you on the list!

I hope to see you there!!!

Cover Story

September is not only huge for the runways, but also for fashion magazines everywhere. I know when I think of the September issue, I instantly think of Vogue...as well as the documentary of the same name (which I loved!). If you have yet to see it definitely add it to your Netflix queue right away!

I thought it would be fun to see how Vogue is showcasing their covers for this much anticipated issue. Let's take a trip around the stylish world of Vogue.

UK

Russia

Mexico

India

I personally love the Russia and India covers. What do you think of these covers? Which one is your favorite?

Lookin' Fab

Can I just say that I am dying over this printed Peter Pilotto dress! Katharine McPhee has never looked so stunning. Don't you agree? The bold dress, the colorful shoes, and the perfect hairstyle...so lovely. She really brought her A-game to New York Fashion Week.

What do you think of this look? Would you ever wear a bold printed dress similar to this?

Fall Trends- 2012

Fall is upon us, and that means so are some new trends for the season. Here are my favorite trends for this fall. Which will you be fashioning?

1) Deep Berry Lips- Adding bold color to your lips is the easiest way to transform your look. I often like to play up my lips, because it requires no skill. To this day I still have issues with putting on my eye makeup (although I have been getting much better with it lately)...intense lips are fool proof! This fall is all about the deep berry pout. I am a huge fan of Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick. I need to purchase the brilliant bordeaux shade.

2) Suede Smoking Slipper- I have to have this trend in my wardrobe now! I love a cute pair of flats, and these are so much cuter than the usual ballet flats. I adore this fuchsia pair from Gap ($39.95). The would instantly dress up any casual look.

3) Polka Dot Jeans- Add some spots to your denim this season. It gives jeans a feminine kick and adds just a touch of fun to your casual look. These Polka Dot Verdugo Skinny Jeans from Paige Denim ($190) are the cutest! Don't you agree?

4) Full Brows- As far as brows are concerned, the fuller the better this autumn. When it comes to brows I trust mine to Anastasia Beverly Hills. Filling in brows is so simple to do with their kits. The Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes kit available at Sephora ($39.50) is #1 in my book!

5) The Chambray Shirt- Instead of dressing pieces of your wardrobe up, the chambray shirt dresses your outfit down...in a good way. You could pair it with a skirt and knee high boots...or a bold pair of pants and sky high heels. It literally goes with EVERYTHING. I can't get enough of this western denim shirt from J. Crew ($98). Western wear never looked so good!

Red Lips & Curls

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Labor Day weekend! Today I curled my hair and did up my makeup...thinking we were going to head on out to walk around town. As soon as I finished getting ready, it started to downpour outside. Fantastic. That's just my luck.

Well, at least hanging out inside the house on a damp and icky day won't make my curls fall flat or start to frizz. And I have to admit, bright red lipstick makes even the dreariest day even better. It makes me instantly happy!  :-)

What are your plans today/tomorrow? Picnics? Shopping? Catching up on some much needed rest?
