Best and Worst of the Costume Institute Gala

Tons of celebrities and supermodels came out for this year's Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. You may remember that last year it had the theme entitled: Superheroes. This year they are not focusing on the superhero, but the supermodel. It's title this year: The Model as Muse.

We've put together a list of the top three best and (bottom three?) worst dressed of the gala. Let's start off with best dressed: Alek Wek, Iman, and Cindy Crawford.

Worst dressed: Kirsten Dunst, Shalom Harlow, Leighton Meester.

Fashion Inspiration---Frances "Baby" Houseman

With absolutely nothing to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon I found myself watching the last half of Dirty Dancing on television. I swear I have seen that movie about 29075928375 times, can repeat every line, and can do all the dance moves (well at least I like to pretend I can!). While watching the movie I really took notice to Baby's fashion. She wears a ton of white, lots of denim, and adorable feminine dresses. Here I put together a bunch of looks that can totally pass off as being inspired by Baby herself.

Shop & Give

I've been seeing a commercial on television lately (I think it is an AT&T commercial) for TOMS shoes where they explain their One for One movement. For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. To read more about their One for One campaign click here.

TOMS shoes really has something for everyone, and their shoes are super comfortable! They come in some of the most basic and neutral tones, as well as bold colors and prints for the summer. So get fashionable and help someone in need while doing so.

Pick of the Day

Summertime isn't summertime without the perfect sundress. Fred Flare has this adorable Striped Canopy Dress that would be a great piece in anyone's wardrobe. Made of 100% cotton, this dress has flattering darts at the bust, a skinny tie at the waist, and side pockets (which I love!).

Get Ready for the Beach

The weather last weekend had me all set and ready for summer...but the 90 degree weather didn't last for long here in NYC. With summer only being about a month and a half away we have plenty of time to buy some of the best beach gear out there.

Our three beach must haves are:
1) a cover-up that you can wear while on the boardwalk or out to lunch
2) an adorable swim suit that makes you stand out from the crowd
3) the perfect tote to carry all your beach needs (snacks, a good book, sand bucket & shovel?)

3 Looks

If you don't have a very simple (dare I say plain?) dress in your closet...run out and get one. They are so great because by adding a few key pieces you have countless outfits! Check out this Women's Cotton Twill Shift Dress from Old Navy. At only $29.50 it is an amazing find. Here we put the khaki dress in three outfits: for work, the weekend, and a night out on the town. Which one do you like best?

Pick of the Day

There is nothing like a good pair of jeans. These Fit: Five Boot Stretch Jeans from Esprit are the perfect pair! These jeans have a low rise, are slim in the thighs, but flare out in the legs. They are super comfy and look great with absolutely anything!

Personally, I love jeans that have some stretch in them. Do you usually wear jeans that have some stretch? What style jeans are your favorite (boot cut, flare, skinny, straight, wide leg)?
