Dear Snapshot Fashion...

This morning I received a comment from a very stylish blogger, Diya.

She asked:
I've been looking for a simple, thin black and white striped form-fitting long sleeve top and you'll think they're everywhere but I can't find one! Can you help?

So I took it upon myself to help out a fellow fashionista. This request didn't sound too difficult because I swear I see these tops everywhere. But, to my surprise this was the hardest thing to come by! Maybe a few months ago before the spring clothing was put out it might have been a bit more common to find. Now Diya, if you change your mind and are fine with short sleeves, cardigans, 3/4 sleeves, or different colors...let me know. Because I came across a TON of those.

Can you believe I found ONE top? ONE! O-N-E!!!!!! And technically it isn't even really a top...but a bodysuit. Personally, I love bodysuits. I tend to wear my tops tucked in most of the time, and wearing a bodysuit just keeps everything neatly in place.

This Printed Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Long Sleeve Bodysuit from American Apparel will do the trick for you! And as an added bonus, the back of this is AMAZING! Don't you think? For $36 this bodysuit is a must have. No matter if you wear it with jeans, black pants, or a mini skirt...you'll always look fabulous in it.

Diya, I really hope this helped a little!!!

Dear Snapshot Fashion...

Dear Snapshot Fashion,

I have recently ventured into the world of online dating....and much to my surprise I am actually going to have dinner with someone i met!!!
WHAT DO I WEAR?!
I'm trying not to panic - I really did not expect to actually have any success with this and now I am stuck in-between paychecks (meaning I have no spending money to buy a new outfit) basically set myself up on a blind date and the guy is cute enough that I do actually want to show up and make a good impression. Scratch that. I want to make a GREAT first impression. So I must admit that it has been a very long time since I have been on any kind of formal date. This, of course, only adds to my panic. I don't know whether to wear jeans or a skirt....heels or flats...hair up, hair down.....my questions are endless...
I'm so nervous as it is....I'd like to at the very least to walk in that restaurant looking great so that even if we don't click, he can at least tell his friends i was cute.
Help me Snapshot Fashion! You're my only hope!

Signed,
Scared of Spinsterhood

Dear Scared of Spinsterhood-

Wow, where do I begin?!?! First let me wish you luck on your date. Secondly, let me say this...CALM DOWN! Snapshot Fashion to the rescue!!! We are going to go over some basic dressing to impress guidelines and show you some outfits and items that you might already have in your closet that would look great for such an occasion.

I always say that it is better to dress up than be underdressed. Personally, I feel that first dates are rather casual. But I am in NO WAY saying you show up wearing sneakers and a ponytail. Jeans are always a great item to wear...but please make sure they fit you well (not baggy or too tight...and NO MUFFIN TOPS PLEASE!). Pair them with a cute top, cardigan, or blazer. I think if you wear jeans you should wear heels with them. However, if you are rather tall you can get away with ballet flats.

If you feel like showing some leg dresses and skirts are always a great option. But remember this is a date...not the office. So just make sure it is something cute and fun...and please keep it classy.

Dear Snapshot Fashion...

Dear Snapshot Fashion,
I have these boots in brown and I LOVE them...but I always feel like I have nothing to wear with them. I don't have skinny jeans, I hate the way I look in skinny jeans, I don't ever plan on getting skinny jeans, so they are not an option for me. I am a bootcut/boyfriend/wideleg jean girl through and through but alas, does not allow me to show off these boots.
I love skirts though...but it's winter and I feel like brown leggings are too blah....black leggings? I dont know. Help me!
~Skinny Jean Hater

Dear Skinny Jean Hater,
First of all let me start out buy saying that you really should not fear the skinny jean! So many people have such misconceptions of these jeans...thinking that they have to be a size zero to wear them...SO WRONG! Maybe you tried on a brand that just wasn't flattering. I really do suggest going on a skinny jean shopping spree. But, if you are still totally against skinny jeans then skirts are a GREAT option to wear with these boots. I have some similar boots and I wear mine with skirts all the time.

I suggest wearing them with mini skirts. You don't want to wear them with skirts that are too long else you'll look frumpy. If you have a cute denim mini skirt that would be a great option to pair with these boots.

Yes it is cold outside...but that doesn't mean you pack away your skirts for the season. Leggings are a good option if you want to stay warm. Also, thick knit tights will keep your legs extra warm throughout winter. And don't worry about matching your legwear to your shoes. I suggest trying out some colors!

I have put together some looks that I feel would look great with your boots. I hope this helps you get a better grasp on how to wear them!

Dear Snapshot Fashion...

Dear Snapshot Fashion,
Immediate help needed. In two days I'm going to go to an event that requires "semi-formal" attire. I have no idea what this means even after googling it. I've tried to create several outfits but I end up doubting myself that it looks either too formal or not formal enough. Help!

Addle Brained
[I've sent you an outfit before and got featured, I'm hoping my name doesn't pop up though, that's why I signed addle brained XD]

*********************************************************************
Dear Addle Brained-
First let me start off by saying that you shouldn't feel embarrassed about not knowing what semi-formal attire is. It actually is rather confusing. And I'm sure if we featured you on our site that you are quite stylish!
Now, let's move on to the question at hand...what is semi-formal attire?
The definition of semi-formal attire is rather flexible. You can wear a dress which length can go from a little above the knee (nothing TOO SHORT) to just above the ankle. You could also wear a skirt suit or pant suit. If you decide to wear a suit it should be a more elegant type suit (a silky material would work well). Another option would be to wear some tuxedo pants and a dressier top. Also, high heeled shoes should be worn.
My tip is that it is always better to be over dressed than under dressed!
We've put together a few different looks for you so you get an idea of outfits that might work for your event. We hope this helps!!!

Dear Snapshot Fashion...

Dear Snapshot Fashion,
I have a problem. My engagement pictures are around the corner and I'm in a desperate need to find a cute little dress for them... I don't want spend a fortune on it, but a girl does what a girl needs to do! ;-) So if you have any ideas, please help me out. The photographer told me it should be a plain color and we are shooting on the beach.

Have a great day,
Séverine

*********************************************

Séverine,
First of all, let me start out by saying CONGRATS on your engagement! Back to your question at hand...I was really excited when I got your email because I am always seeing a zillion different dresses out there that I just love. But the fact that the dress should be a solid color, it's a beach photo shoot, and right now it's off season (at least where I am) makes the answer to this question that much more difficult.
Here are some great tips I have that will possibly help you out in finding a dress that you'll love (and will look great on you!)---

1. I suggest that you check out the sale/clearance sections on your favorite store's website. Being that you're having a beach shoot I'm assuming that the weather is rather warm where you are. You will be able to find some great deals on some adorable sundresses from this past summer.

2. Don't be afraid of wearing some color. I'm not saying you have to wear color...but I do think that some bright and bold hues will look great in a photo. You should wear a color that flatters your skin tone.

3. When selecting a dress make sure you pick a style that shows off your best feature (and hides the ones that you aren't so crazy about).

Here are a few dresses that I just LOVE...and maybe you will too. Click on the image below to see where you can purchase them.

Dear Snapshot Fashion...

Dear Snapshot Fashion,
I'm thinking about getting a pair of skinny jeans...that is if I can find a pair that look ok on me. What I want to know is what kind of shoe would I wear with them? I love flats but I didn't know if they would look ok or not. What are your suggestions??
~Dana

********************************

Dana,
Please don't fear the skinny jeans. This may sound crazy, but they really do look great on just about everyone. Something that makes a fabulous pair of skinny jeans is that it has to have some type of stretch in them. You want the jeans to follow the shape of your leg...and yes, I mean even your lower leg. This is extremely important if you want to wear them tucked into boots. If you just buy straight jeans they won't tuck into your boots properly, and they'll bunch up.
As for our favorite shoes to wear with skinny jeans we suggest ballet flats, knee high boots, and high heels. We put together some of our favorite shoe suggestions below. We hope that helps you get a better grasp on what would look great with a fabulous pair of skinny jeans.
