Even though we had snow (!!!) earlier this week, I think it is safe to say that spring is officially here...to stay! The trees in my neighborhood are all blossoming...as are my allergies. But I just pop some Allegra and the blooming flowers appear beautiful once again.
When I think of springtime I don't typically think of pastels. I hardly ever wear them. I love the bright and bold colors, short dresses, and flowing fabrics. Isn't this above outfit too cute for words?!?! I want to wear that outfit now. It's so perfect for a day like today.
This morning my husband, dog, and I took a lovely walk through Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We've been living in northern Williamsburg since December, and have yet to wander through Greenpoint's charming neighborhood. For those of you that don't know the area that I live in...Greenpoint is literally a couple of blocks north from me. Seems like every weekend when we go for a stroll we always go south...or east...but never north. I'm so glad we did. We stumbled on so many spots that have us saying: "Greenpoint, we'll see ya next weekend too!!!"
I'm so happy that the warmer weather is here! This weekend feels almost like summer. I couldn't wait to wear this new dress I just got at Express a couple of weeks ago. It's so light and flowy...and it has the most adorable keyhole detail. For those of you that love it as much as I do, guess what? It's currently on sale!
P.S. I only kept this photo in the bunch because Rocko looked so cute. Please don't mind my face.
You can never have too many beauty tips and tricks up your sleeve...am I right? I thought it would be fun to share my favorite tricks with you all. They are all very simple...but they definitely do come in handy. So, here goes---
Best product for keeping your hair free of flyaways:DRYER SHEETS. If your hair is a little out of control, just take a dryer sheet and rub it through your hair. Use the scent free kind if you don't want your hair to smell like laundry (not like that is a bad thing).
Best way to keep your old clothing looking new:DISPOSABLE RAZORS. When your clothing starts to pill all you have to do is shave it! Seriously. This really works. Your clothing will be good as new. Just make sure you use a razor without any gel strips on it (duh!).
Best eye makeup remover:VASELINE. Just a little dab will go a long way. Sometimes I think this actually works better than makeup remover wipes.
Best lip gloss:VASELINE. I use this all the time. It makes your lips super shiny, and stays on for a very long time. No other gloss compares. Sometimes if I want a little color added I will crush up some eyeshadow and add it to the Vaseline.
What are some of your favorite beauty tips??? Please share!!!
Now that the weather is getting warmer my eyes keep getting drawn to more bohemian styles. This year some of my typical favorite boho styles are being edged in fringe...and I'm loving every inch of it! Here are some of my favorite looks out there that just about anyone can wear and incorporate in their style.
Well I've been back from San Francisco for not quite a week...but I have been meaning to share photos of my trip with you all week long. Some of you probably have seen some of them already (especially if you follow my instagram, personal Facebook account, Twitter, or my photography's Facebook account)...but for those of you that haven't, here we go!
Alamo Square was one of my favorite spots in the city! The homes were stunningly beautiful, with an amazing view of downtown...and of course it reminds us all of Full House!
I couldn't get enough of the Golden Gate Bridge. Even standing in front of it...it didn't seem real. Who knew a bridge could be so pretty!?!?!
My husband's favorite picture of the trip. :)
Having fun on the beautiful sidewalks of San Fran!
This was the house that Chris lived in when he lived in San Francisco. My husband was so shocked that they changed the colors of the house since he moved (over 10 years ago!).
Our friend Christina took about 8 photos of this AMAZING jacket that some random girl was wearing in the bar we were in. Hello San Francisco fashion! Loving it!!!
Yes, I did use the Valencia filter in instagram on this photo. I'm so nerdy.
They are so cute...but they smelled so bad.
The colors in this scene literally stopped me in my tracks. I had to take a photo of them...they were so pretty! Soon after a crazy man jumped out from behind a tree branch he was hiding behind, making me scream. Everyone on the sidewalk laughed at me. Ugh.
We had the one of the best meals in San Francisco ever here. It was amazing! Head to Valencia in the Mission District to Range Restaurant...it was so over the top fantastic. The kale salad I started with was the best kale of my life. The drinks were over the top! And the best part was they gave these teeny tiny vanilla macarons with our check. They were so good I just melted in my seat. If I ever go back to SF, I will be heading there again.
Such a great trip! We really needed that...even though it was only a few days. We literally haven't had a real vacation like this in like five and a half years. Where to go to next...
I'm saying goodbye to NYC for a few days. My husband and I are currently on an airplane heading to San Francisco. I'm beyond excited, as this is my first trip to San Francisco...and actually my first trip to California! Be sure to follow along on my instagram, and stay tuned next week as I plan on sharing some of my photos with all of you on my blog.
Well, hello springtime!!! The sunshine is here!!! This has me happy beyond belief. I'm up on our rooftop enjoying the beautiful views of Brooklyn and NYC. I'll be even happier later on this week when I jet off to San Francisco. It will be my first visit to California, and even though it will only be for a few days I'm so excited! My husband lived there for three years (many, many moons ago)...and is so excited to show me around his second favorite city.
The next time I'm looking for that perfect dress I know I'll be getting it from eShaki. Have you heard of them? Three words: eShakti is amazing. Seriously. I have never had a dress that fit so perfectly. They even take custom measurements.
What I love most about eShakti is that they let you pick and choose from so many options to have your item exactly as you want it. For instance, I got to pick the length of this dress, the neckline, the style of sleeve, and even added pockets to it (dresses with pockets are my favorite). I absolutely love the idea of making the dress my own. It almost made me feel like I was the designer.
Today is your lucky day! My friends at eShakti wanted to give all my readers a discount to use on their website. Stop by eShakti now and use the promo code ssfes to receive 10% off of your order. This discount is valid now through April 18, 2014. Happy shopping!!!
Please note that the code must be entered into the promotional code box. The code can be used a number of times. It can be clubbed with any other promotional offer, gift coupon, or gift card in the same order unless explicitly specified otherwise in the offer conditions. This discount code is not applicable on clearance/sale, gift cards, and overstock categories. It is also not applicable on previous orders.
If any of you are in the SF area, let me know! Would love to meet up or take your suggestions as to where we should go while we are out there.
