The Bold And The Beautiful

dress: Calvin Klein thrifted from Crossroads Trading Co./ sandals: H&M/ horse pin: a gift from my friends at Bob Mackie

Yes I wear black (a lot)...but I really am a sucker for a bright and bold print (especially when hot pink is involved in it!). So you knew I couldn't say no to this amazing Calvin Klein dress. I picked it up at Crossroads Trading Co. last weekend. Not only did it fit me perfectly, but I don't think it was ever worn. The pockets were still sewn shut. Can you believe it? And better yet, it was only $27.50!!!

Enjoying the ever so slight breeze...

Tonight we're going to finally go see Trainwreck, and I cannot wait! We've been meaning to go for the last few weeks but our plans kept changing. But tonight is the night. Sitting in air conditioning this evening sounds like the perfect plan to me!

This weekend is going to be another hot one. Stay cool everyone!

Sharing My Beauty/Fashion Secrets

denim dress- Calvin Klein (thrifted from Crossroads Trading Co.) / wedges- MICHAEL Michael Kors

Today I'm sharing my top three beauty and fashion secrets with you.

1. Find your favorite local secondhand shop and become a regular. In my neighborhood I'm lucky enough to have a number of awesome secondhand stores and live in among some seriously stylish gals...so you know there are always awesome pieces to be found. My personal favorite shop in North Williamsburg has to be Crossroads Trading Co. I'm obsessed with that place. I always have the best luck there. I stopped there on Friday and picked up two practically new Calvin Klein dresses (see that one I'm wearing) and another dress that was never worn (tags still on it!)...three dresses all for only $65! Score!!!

2. Use coconut oil as a hair treatment. I only started doing this after I got my ombre hair about a month ago. Two of the girls that work at the salon that I go to told me it is a must! Not only will it help keep my hair from being dry, but it will help keep it from breaking. I absolutely love how soft it makes my hair! You have to try it!!! Go to the supermarket and pick up some coconut oil. Put some in your hands and rub your hands together to melt it. Slather it on and wrap your head in plastic wrap. Let it sit for an hour or two and then wash it out. You will notice a difference immediately!

3. Red lipstick makes the best accessory. Who needs jewelry or other accessories when all you need to do is swipe some red lipstick on to complete a look? Am I right? As you can see above, I kept my look simple...but the red lips really finish it off. Anyone that says they can't wear red lipstick because of their coloring or their age is crazy. RED IS FOR EVERYONE!!!

Red Lips, Rompers, and Rocko

floral romper- Forever 21 | platform sandals- H&M

My favorite summer item has got to be rompers! I adore dresses, but when I'm walking around the neighborhood with my dog in hand it's very difficult to be holding down my dress every time it gets breezy. Know what I mean? Rompers let me be carefree...and not flash everyone while doing so!

Chris and I brought Rocko out for a walk early this morning...because, brace yourself, it's going to be another disgustingly hot day. The poor guy just can't handle this heat, and to be honest neither can I. I know it is only August 1st, but can it be autumn already??? Please?

This weekend is going to be full of dogsitting Rocko's friend Junior (he's so much fun!), oyster happy hours, regular happy hours, and air conditioning. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

Oh yeah, if you haven't checked it out yet...Rocko has his own Instagram account. Friends have been telling me to start one for him for quite some time now, and I finally gave in. Follow him and his adventures at: rockothelhasapoo.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Slightly Tropical

dress- H&M | sandals- Kelsi Dagger available at Lord & Taylor | necklace- old (got this from a roadside stand near the Grand Canyon many years ago)

Since it is definitely feeling like a hot summer day today I thought it would be very appropriate to dress slightly tropical. A pineapple dress would be perfect for the occasion, don't you agree? And I absolutely love these white sole sandals. Is anyone else digging this trend?

This morning my husband and I went to brunch in the East Village. This is crazy for us because for some reason I feel like we almost never leave our Brooklyn neighborhood on the weekends. Had a great brunch at Frank, where we sat outside and drank bellinis. Does life get better than that?

Next we're heading out to a puppy pool party at Artists & Fleas. We went last year and Rocko had a blast. Last year he won the friendliest dog in the pool award...I wonder what/if he'll win this year. Let's hope he has as much fun this year. I'm sure I'll be posting on my Instagram and Snapchat, so follow along! :-)

Later on we'll be cheering on the USA as the final game of the Women's World Cup is played. I can't wait! Have you all been watching it the last few weeks? I've been obsessed.

I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend!!!

Gingham Girl

Today Rocko and I were enjoying some of this lovely weather in our courtyard. Him in a dog bone print and myself in gingham...and both in red. He might not have been so happy that we dressed like twins...but I won this battle. Aren't we just adorable together!?!?!

I have been doing a bunch of shopping at Lord & Taylor lately. That's what happens when you work two blocks from their midtown location. Not that I really mind...they have been having amazing sales lately (and their show department is spectacular!). Stop by now because they are having their friends and family sale! You can thank me later!

So much going on in my neighborhood this weekend. We'll be stopping by the Northside Festival and it's festivities on Bedford Avenue. Art, music, food, and fun...sounds like a good time to me. Follow along on my Instagram and Snapchat (snapshotfashion) for my adventures!!!

Have a happy Saturday!

My McCarren Park

dress- Romeo & Juliet Couture thrifted from Crossroads Trading Co./ wedge sandals- Bakers/ fringe purse- H&M

I'm not a nature girl at all. Dirt, bugs, allergies...I hate it all. But I have to say, I love that I live near a park while living in a city. Actually, now that I think of it I always have had a park in my backyard while in NYC. When we lived in the East Village we had Tompkins Square Park, when we lived in the Upper East Side we had Central Park, and now that we are in North Williamsburg we have McCarren Park which I love so much! It's full or pretty flowers, has a great farmer's market, and Rocko's favorite dog run. It's our little part of nature that we need in this concrete jungle.

Rocko is loving this warm and sunny weather.

Isn't this dress the cutest? I picked it up at Crossroads Trading Co. the other week. Can you believe that this adorable scuba swing dress was marked down to $6??? SIX DOLLARS! I love that store. I always have such luck there picking up great second hand finds!

I hope you all have a lovely Saturday! Get out there and enjoy it!

Swans Crossing

Truth be told, I have been wanting to share this fabulous swan dress with you all for a while. But I have been wanting to use Swans Crossing as a title for this post for even longer. If you didn't watch the teen soap Swans Crossing in the early 90's I don't think we can be friends any longer. Seriously.

swan printed dress (same style/different print): Brooklyn Industries/ oxfords (same style/different color): Kayleen by Los Angeles available at ModCloth/ necklace: gift/ lipstick: Russian Red by MAC

Besides dodging my allergies left and right (they are so bad this year!), I'm planning on meeting up with my little cousin who is visiting his girlfriend in town tonight, off to spend my Sunday with the in-laws in Long Island, and then just relaxing at home on my Monday off.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

Featuring Mollypacks by Molly Shaheen

Truth be told: I don't think I ever thought that I would be smiling this big over a fannypack. Or so I thought. That was what I thought before I came across this Mollypack by Molly Shaheen. The unique shape and the bold color won over my heart.

This Mollypack is handmade in NYC and is 100% leather. The adjustable belt also detatches if you want to use it as a clutch. This Textured Berry Purple Circle Mollypack is from her Spring 2015 Collection.

Summer is coming up and that really is the perfect time for a bag like this. Between concerts and summer festivals...a no fuss Mollypack would be ideal. I, however, decided to show you all that a Mollypack is really for any look or occasion. Doesn't it look great with a little black dress?

Jump on over to Molly Shaheen and order your Mollypack today!

New Orleans: Part Two

dress (similar): H&M/tights: H&M/ booties: Chelsea Crew Black Label/purse: H&M

Truth be told, I'm kind of obsessed with this dress. Yes, I know I look more like Wednesday Addams than a Southern Belle...but I'm from NYC, so deal with it.  :-)

Here is a final roundup of some my favorite shots while on our New Orleans trip. Enjoy!

My husband was horsing around...and so were the horses...

One thing that really won over my heart in New Orleans was the bright and bold colors. Blue shutters, purple doors, hot pink front stoops...and even this gate door that was covered in bottle caps! So charming and quirky...I love it.

And I'm not one for nature (at all), but these trees were amazingly beautiful!

All in all we had a nice trip...saw a lot. If you followed along on my Instagram you got to see even more shots from our adventure. It was so good to get out of NYC for a little...but we're glad to be back.

Now...where to next???

New Orleans Babydoll

So this past weekend Chris and I went on a little mini-getaway to New Orleans. Neither of us had ever been there, so this was a fun little adventure for the both of us.

We spent the extra long weekend walking around the town, snapping photos of the amazing architecture, looking at art, and eating beignets at Cafe Du Monde ( yes, they really were all they were cracked up to be). They were definitely not on the endo diet I have been on...but I couldn't resist!

dress: Esley/ballet flats: H&M/bracelets: vintage

I'm sure if you look closely in these photos you can see my goosebumps. Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty decent weekend (and way warmer and dryer than NYC's weather)...but this day it did not get quite as warm as what they were calling for. As soon as we ate our beignets and drank our cafe au laits we went back to the hotel so I could grab my coat, tights, and booties. I'm such a wimp!

I love this new dress I picked up at one of the best boutiques in my neighborhood called Pema New York. Don't you just love the little snowflake design? It's my new favorite babydoll dress in my closet.

The architecture was so pretty. Around every street corner there was an even prettier house and more ornate iron work on the balconies. So lovely.
