Summer Nights

Over the weekend we headed out to Orient, NY to my in-law's beach house because two of my husband's cousins were celebrating their birthdays. We haven't been out to Orient in over a year and this was the first time I got to celebrate Matthew and Alex's birthday's with them (even though I've been with my husband for eight and a half years).

The weather was quite lovely there this weekend. Saturday night was warm and the sunset was gorgeous! I only noticed the amazing colors when the sun was almost down. So I ran upstairs and told my husband to take some photos of me on their balcony.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this dress from H&M. I wear it way too often. I love how the panel style is figure flattering, and who doesn't love the cut out feature?!?! Oh yeah, it also kind of looks like a scuba suit...haha! It's definitely a little out of my comfort zone...but fashion is all about trying new things. Don't you agree?

What piece do you have in your closet that you have bought in order to try to step out of your comfort zone?

 dress- H&M
bracelets- vintage

So I have a question for you all. Do you hate little baby hairs as much as I do? I'm thinking of getting bangs again. I know, I know...I just grew them out. But, all of these little baby hairs on my hairline are driving me crazy! I don't think I can take it much longer. I'm looking at these photos and that is all I can focus on. UGH!

What do you think: should I get bangs again?

Look for Less- Studded Pumps

I don't know about you, but I have been obsessing over Valentino's studded heels. How I wish my wallet was able to handle that purchase. No worries though. I can still get the studded t-strap look for a small fraction of the designer price.

Valentino Noir Leather Rockstud Pumps available at Saks Fifth Avenue- $1075

Which version will you be purchasing???

Vote for Style: Amanda Seyfried

What I adore about Amanda Seyfried is that she isn't afraid to switch up her look. Over the last week she has been out and about promoting her new movie, Lovelace. She is always changing how she wears her hair (and I'm so obsessed with her hair) and makeup...and always looking stunning while doing so.

So Chic - Stella McCartney top and shorts with red lips and straight hair

Evening Glam- Gucci dress with smokey eyes and an updo

Cool & Casual- Andrew Gn separates with neutral makeup and wavy locks

Have you seen the trailer for Lovelace? She is totally unrecognizable! It took me a few minutes to even realize that it was her. Crazy!

Which of Amanda's looks do you love best???

Look of the Day- Black Beauty

Look of the Day

1) Elsa Peplum Dress available at Anthropologie- $148
2) 3-pack of bracelets available at H&M- $7.95
3) Iridescent Exotic Minaudiere available at bebe- $69 $59.99
4) Jeffrey Campbell Blakely Heel available at Free People- $128

For some reason I have a slight obsession with black clothing. Not only do I just love the color, but it is so practical. Black doesn't just go with everything, but it also doesn't get messed up as easily as lighter colors. Sometimes I think that I really need to explore more color in my wardrobe. Quite some time ago, a number of people at a company I worked at thought that I was goth! True story.

My question to you: Is it possible to actually have too much black in your wardrobe???

Color Combo: Aqua + White

Lately I have been obsessed with the color combination of aqua and white. So summery, so fresh, so chic. It reminds me of the beach...or even Greece (not like I have ever been there...but a girl can dream, right?). Sophia Bush and Kelly Rowland were recently seen rocking this stunning look. Which look do you like better???

I put a list together of some of my favorite aqua and white looks for you all. Get in on this trend...especially while the summer is still here.

Paisley Skies Dress available at ModCloth- $52.99 $25.99

Bright Lines Dress available at Nasty Gal- $58

Bokeh Dots Skirt available at ModCloth- $49.99 $24.99

Give You a Print Aqua and White Dress available at LuLu's- $49

What are your thoughts on this color combo? Are you loving it as much as I am?

Win a Vintage Bob Mackie Dress on Sammy Davis Vintage

A couple months ago my favorite vintage blogger and friend, Sammy Davis, gave me a call to see if I'd be interested in working with her and Bob Mackie. My answer: Uh...YES! Sammy and Bob Mackie were teaming up to give away an amazing 1980's dress from the legendary designer. Not only did I get to see the amazing piece up close and take the photos, but I also got to check out their NYC headquarters.

This dress has amazing sequin flowers on the shoulders and the bust is a corset style. Sammy looked like a Greek (or Roman?) goddess in this dress. People were actually stopping us in Bryant Park due to the beauty of the gown. Some even thought she was getting married! Oh the people in New York City...you gotta love them!

Be sure to stop by Sammy Davis Vintage to read more about the rules to enter the contest, watch a video Sammy made about the dress, and learn a little more history about Bob Mackie, the dress, and Bryant Park.

Good luck to everyone that enters!!!

Homecoming Dresses at DressFirst

August is practically here, which means for my younger readers that means the start of school is right around the corner. And when school starts, you know what you will be thinking of...homecoming! I wanted to let you all know that I found an amazing site that has the best collection of homecoming dresses that I have ever seen. What I love most about the dresses on DressFirst are the variety of colors that they come in and sizes that they have available. There really is something for everyone!

Here are some of my favorite dresses in their collection that I think would make anyone the star of their homecoming dance.

There is something very romantic about this flowing chiffon dress. It will make anyone look like a superstar.

This tulle and sequin dress screams homecoming to me! Bright and bold...and full of fun. This is a dress that the girl who is the life of the party will most definitely be wearing.

Can we say pretty??? This dress has amazing beading detail and will make anyone feel like a princess.

I could totally see myself in this stunning satin dress. It's very simple, yet classic. It's definitely a dress you could look back on wearing and not cringe. So chic!

Aren't these dresses just fabulous? Which DressFirst homecoming dresses are your favorite?

Look of the Day- Sweet & Sassy

Two of my favorite colors have to be black and pink. I swear most of my wardrobe is black. You can make all the jokes about New Yorkers and their dark garb, but it really is just so much more practical. But how can you make a full black wardrobe a little more interesting? Adding pops of color, like the hot pink shown below, really gives that extra punch that makes an outfit special.

Look of the Day

1) Gardenhead Viola Halo Headwrap available at Urban Outfitters- $24
2) Farewell Floral Peplum Blouse by C.Luce available at Piperlime- $59
3) Neon Pop Clutch available at Forever 21- $19.80
4) Mossimo Faux Leather Quilted Mini Skirt available at Target- $24.99

Do you have a color that seems to take over your wardrobe? What is your favorite color to wear?
