Flutter Into Spring

On my way home tonight I made a detour through McCarren Park to the dog park (Rocko's most favorite spot in the world). As he ran around I realized something...spring is finally here! The dogs in the park were smiling and having a good time, the birds were chirping, the flowers on the trees were blooming, and it was 70 degrees! It will be just a matter of time before the butterflies start to emerge from their cocoons. Not that I'm complaining...but we haven't really had much summer weather yet. So when it comes to deciding what to wear, I've been so clueless lately. The middle of the day is in the low 80s...but the evenings have been in the low 60s. What to wear, what to wear!?!?! I don't know about you all, but the crisp evenings makes me want to start breaking out some autumn inspired looks. A perfect way to do this is simply with colors. Mixing light denim (super summery) with some navy pumps (hello autumn!) is a great way to transition and get ready for my favorite season. Fall just never really lasts long enough, does it? *sigh*

The sun has been shining, and I'm finally able to shed two or three layers of clothing without freezing. Before you know it spring will be here. I should know...my birthday is the first day of spring (March 20th). 

Nothing screams spring time to me more than dresses. Granted, I wear dresses all the time. Yep, even through the Polar Vortex. But there is something about dresses like the adorable one I have shown here that shows that spring is in bloom. The bright colors, the fabulous bow, the loud print...it's like it is shouting: SPRING IS (almost) HERE!

Stay Warm In The Polar Vortex

I can't get over the weather lately! Last week when we had the snow storm the "real feel temperature" in NYC was negative 18. Now tomorrow they are saying it's going to be in the negative double digits yet again due to the polar vortex. I mean, I live in Brooklyn...not the arctic. But this frigid weather is not what I signed up for. I just do not do well with cold. EVER.

The one thing that sucks about living in NYC is that you have to walk everywhere...even in the freezing cold. How am I going to handle this? LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS. I have to admit, it's often difficult to look cute while you have a hundred layers on. I swear last week I looked like a crazy bag lady. Ugh!

Put A Lid On It

Hats are my go to accessory when the weather starts to get cooler. Nothing like being fashion forward while masking your bad hair day and keeping your head warm. I can't get enough of them! I recently bought this adorable Daisy Cloche from Brooklyn Industries and made a point to wear it this past weekend. The cold and wind were awful, but the hat kept me looking perfectly put together.

My oh my...it's been too long! So much has been going on lately. I feel like I've been going in circles. I'm still getting over being sick (this cough is just lingering), and we have been apartment hunting in our free time. Well, it seems like today I can take a deep breath and relax because we got approved for the apartment we wanted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our lease starts in December, and I'm so excited! The best part is that we will finally have a view. All the years I have lived in Manhattan we have always just had a "true New York City View"...i.e. a brick wall. In the new apartment we have a view of the Williamsburg Bridge, lower Manhattan, and an iconic Brooklyn water tower. *sigh* I can't wait to share photos with you all.

For some reason I have a slight obsession with black clothing. Not only do I just love the color, but it is so practical. Black doesn't just go with everything, but it also doesn't get messed up as easily as lighter colors. Sometimes I think that I really need to explore more color in my wardrobe. Quite some time ago, a number of people at a company I worked at thought that I was goth! True story.
