Halloween- Last Minute Ideas

Happy Halloween everyone! It's been about nine years (yes, I said nine years) since I dressed up for Halloween. I always love dressing up. Getting my husband to seem excited about joining in on the fun is another story. But this year we have some amazing costumes planned. We're dressing up as Andy and Brand from The Goonies. I cannot wait! I'll be posting photos tonight on my Instagram...so stay tuned.

Here's a sneak peek of the sweater I made for my Andy costume.

It seems this year that sooooo many people I know are putting together last minute costumes because they don't know what to be. Some of my friends still don't know what to be...and others just figured it out yesterday! Since I personally know so many people with this issue this Halloween...I'm sure some of my readers might be in the same pickle.

Here are some super simple ideas that you might be able to put together from your own closet:

-A pin-up girl: wear a pin-up style dress, curl your hair, bust out your eyeliner and red lipstick. See, you can look adorable for Halloween and not look slutty. Check out some of my favorite pin-up style hair/makeup tutorials by Cherry Dollface.

-Bridesmaid/Prom Queen/Miss USA Winner: wear a formal dress that you have in the back of your closet. Add some flowers, a sash, a tiara...whatever.

-Mime: black and white striped shirt, black pants or skirt, beret, and some face paint.

-Sailor: everyone has something nautical in their closet. Break out the red, white, and blue...and anything with stripes and stars on it!

Another way to go is just wear something very simple and do some amazing makeup. Here are some fantastic tutorials:

The Girl with Many Eyes

Creepy Cheshire Hat

Breakfast at Zombie's

Bambi Deer

Halloween Leopard Cat

Comic/Pop Art Character

I hope some of these ideas helped inspire you! Please let me know what you plan on dressing up as. Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween (A Flashback)

Happy Halloween everyone!!! I know a number of you probably celebrated last weekend...and some of you can't celebrate today due to the storm. I am sadly not dressing up this year. I don't think I have dressed up for about 6 years or so now. TOO LONG! Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays. Who doesn't love playing dress up? But at my age, if nobody is having a party...what's the point of putting on a costume? Maybe next year...

Until then, I thought a look back to some of my costumes over the year would be fun!

One of my first costumes. I'm a devil...talk to the hand.

I think I'm suppose to be a pilgrim? Or a Dutch girl? And that is my brother as a really pathetic looking clown. HAHAHA!

My brother now in the devil costume (nose pick?) and myself as a princess.

This was the year my mom had the brilliant idea of dressing me as a boy (hockey player), and my brother as a girl (in that hand me down pilgrim/Dutch girl outfit). Here we are with my neighbor who was obsessed with He-Man. I'll never forget this Halloween because almost every person that gave us candy thought my brother really was a girl.

I'm a crayon, and my brother Pete is a pumpkin. I love that we both have our leg warmers on.  :-)

The last time I dressed up for Halloween (and probably my favorite costume EVER). This is a terrible photo of it. I wish it was in color so you could see our red podiums and silver microphones...and I wish my husband wasn't making such a ridiculous face! We are Price Is Right contestants! See, I can be crafty sometimes

Are you dressing up this year? What are you going to be? What is your favorite costume that you have ever wore?

Halloween Costume Ideas

No matter if you loved the old television show or the more recent movies, The Addams Family is classic and always a great idea for Halloween costumes. I love it when people dress as Wednesday Addams. It's creepy and fun...and SO SIMPLE. Don't forget to wear your hair in braids and maybe carry a doll around that is missing a head.

Halloween Costume Ideas

With Halloween only a few days away I know that a lot of you are thinking: WHAT AM I GOING TO BE?!?!? Personally, I like to be creative with costumes and make them up myself. Going to buy a slutty costume and your local costume shop is just not my style.

Here I put together a very simple look that you just might already have in your closet. We're talking about Meg Griffin from Family Guy! This look is super easy, and everyone will know who you are. Jeans, t-shirts, a hat, and glasses...and you're all set.

Celebrity Costumes

Some celebrities really went all out with their costumes this year for Halloween. Heidi Klum always impresses me with her costume every year. Did you have a favorite costume that a celebrity wore this year? Or maybe one you saw at a party or in a parade? What did you dress up as this year???

Halloween Costume Ideas

Okay people, stop procrastinating! We're really getting down to the wire now as far as Halloween costumes are concerned. Today's look is something that you might be able to pull out of your closet already...SMURFETTE!

For this look what you'll need is: a white dress, long sleeve blue shirt, blue tights/leggings, white shoes, and a white hat. If you don't have blonde hair we also suggest picking up a blonde wig.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Elaine Benes has to be one of my favorite characters from Seinfeld. She did have a sense of style that was all her own...so being her for a Halloween party would be perfect, easy to put together, and so clever! This is what you'll need for this look: a floral granny style dress, a blazer (in any color), and a pair of two-toned shoes. You can also add some ankle socks and dangly earrings to get the Elaine vibe going strong. Also, make sure you do her signature hairstyle!!!
