Beauty Buzz: OGX

Lately I have fallen in love with a the OGX brand of hair products. I have tried so many of them including: Brazilian Keratin Therapy, Argan Oil of Morocco, and so many others...but my current favorite (which is in my shower right now) has to be the Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner. It is fantastic.

This product works so great on smoothing my hair on even the most humid of days. Also, my hair feels so thick and strong! Even my husband also uses it and said, "It makes my hair feel so full"...in which I said, "Better than it making it feel thin!"

What do you think of OGX products? Have you used them before? Which are your favorites?

Beauty Buzz- Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Over the last couple years I have been practicing the winged liner look. I've tried so many different brands, applicator styles (brushes, felt tip, etc.), and colors. But I have finally found my most favorite liquid liner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper- ink black

This waterproof liner really stands up to the test. My allergies were bothering me the other day, and it held up even with watery eyes...yet it came off so easily with some makeup wipes. What I really love about it is the brush applicator. It goes on so smoothly. I get a perfectly effortless winged liner look in seconds. It's my new must have item in my makeup case! I'm obsessed!

Have you tried this liner yet? What about any other items in Kat Von D's collection?

*This is not a sponsored post. It's just my new favorite makeup item and I know you all will love it!

2014- Best in Beauty

Over the past year or so I have been trying to get in to a more regular beauty routine. I always try to be really good with my skin care, hair care, and makeup...but to be quite honest, I get lazy. I buy products, use them for a little bit, and then they just sit on my shelves for months. Terrible...I know.

That is all changing this year. The following products are items that I seriously do not know what I'd do without. Some are items I actually have been using for years, and others are new to my beauty regimen (thanks to amazing Christmas gifts).

(NEW FAVORITE) I am obsessed with Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme! Over the last few years my hands are so insanely dry over the winter. I have tried absolutely everything on them. But the cracks and dryness doesn't stop! I finally have gotten relief with this! Also, the smell is amazing!!! It is my all time favorite smell in the world. Seriously.

(OLD FAVORITE) I have been using Maybelline Full N' Soft for years now. Every once in a while I will try a different type of mascara...but nothing compares. I could spend three times more on mascara, and I still see myself wishing I had purchased some Full N' Soft from the drugstore. What is it that makes this mascara so great? It doesn't clump and doesn't flake. Lashes stay so soft and light...it's like you're not wearing anything on them at all.

(NEW FAVORITE) Say bye-bye to dry and chapped lips this winter. Bliss Fabulips Foaming Lip Cleanser has instantly beautified my pout! The product goes on like a gel, and within seconds it starts to foam up. You leave the orange scented foam on for about 20-30 seconds and you actually feel it working. You then rinse it off and your lips feel good as new! It's my favorite new product. So much so that I have been using it twice a day. I can't get enough of it!

(OLD FAVORITE) Last year I discovered Organix Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist while wandering the aisles at CVS and I have been using it on my dry locks ever since. Not only does it make them silky smooth...but the smell is delicious!

(NEW FAVORITE) I adore all in one makeup kits. Everything you need to achieve a great look in a neat little container...sign me up! This Smokin' Eyes kit from Benefit Cosmetics has everything a girl needs to pull together the perfect smokey eye. Eyeshadows, eyeliner, tweezers, shadow brushes, and eyebrow colored wax...it's PERFECTION in a kit! I have been using this little kit quite a lot...and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it...especially the brow wax.

What are your must have items for 2014???

Gatineau Salon Skin Hydration Boost

Over the last year skincare has really taken precedence in my beauty regime. Maybe it's because a few years ago my skin became prone to breakouts (way worse than when I was a teenager). Or maybe it's because I'm now 32 years old and I'm realizing that I have to start keeping a good skincare routine in order to have young looking and flawless skin as I age. I mean, who doesn't want to age gracefully?

Besides the multiple creams and sunscreens that I use, water is definitely up there on my skin care must haves. We always have heard that the more H2O we drink the better it is for our bodies, especially our skin. Since hydration is key, I was very excited to try out Gatineau's Salon Skin Hydration Boost products.

This two piece collection includes an Aquamemory Moisture Replenish mask (75ml) and an Aquamemory Moisture Replenish concentrate (30ml). I have been using the concentrate twice a day (in the morning when I wake up, and again before I go to bed), and the facemask twice a week. In the short time that I have been using these products I already have noticed a difference. My skin is softer, smoother, and overall much clearer.

Disclosure: Products were sent to me to try. Reviews are all my own opinions.

Beauty Buzz- Olio Olive Oils & Balsamics

As far as beauty products are concerned the last place you would think of looking would be an olive oil and balsamic store. I would have thought the same thing...but back in May my brother, sister-in-law, and parents opened Olio Olive Oils & Balsamics in Lititz, Pennsylvania and guess what they had? In addition to their amazing olive oils and balsamics they also had olive oil beauty products! As good as olive oil is for your health, it also has excellent benefits for your skin. Soaps, body lotions, shower gels, anti-wrinkle cream, shampoo, conditioner...you name it, they have it!

Olive oil has several key vitamins (such as A, D, E, and K) which act as antioxidants. They keep skin healthy, and more importantly delay the aging of cells. Olive oil also contains squalene, which is a beneficial antioxidant and emollient. With high levels of collagen, these products are natural age defiers.

Their products are made with 100% Italian Virgin Olive Oil. They are free of SLS/SLES, parabens, and colorants. No animal ingredients or animal fats are used. They are all gentle, hypoallergenic, pure, and natural. I have tried a number of their products, and what I absolutely love about them is just how moisturizing they are! My skin gets so dry in summer AND in the winter...so keeping it moisturized is key. Initially when my family told me about these products I wasn't really sure as to what I could expect. When I think olive oil I think greasy. But that is not the case with these beauty products!

If you are in the Lititz, Pennsylvania area I definitely invite you to stop in to Olio. You will love this store. They let you try their products before you buy them. Sipping olive oils and balsamics (similar to a wine tasting) makes for a fun afternoon. The quality of their products are unlike anything you have ever tried before. Tell them Diane from Snapshot Fashion sent you!  :-)

But, since I know the vast majority of my readers are not from around here I don't want them to feel left out. They do have an online store. You can order their beauty products, olive oils, balsamics, pantry items, sea salts, peppercorns, and gifts on their website.

My brother- Pete

When you stop by you can taste test all of their products!

Adorable gifts...perfect for the upcoming holidays!

They even have sample sizes in all of their flavors.

Beauty Buzz

I have a new obsession: L'Oreal Root Rescue. Have you tried this color yet? It is absolutely amazing. I don't know about you, but I can't really afford salon color every few weeks. What makes this product so great? It only takes 10 minutes to apply, goes on so easy, and it even matches professional color! How fantastic is that?!?! I really love that I'm only coloring my roots and not constantly damaging all of my hair in the process. I really was quite skeptical about this concept, thinking that I would end up with a stripe down the middle of my head. Thank goodness that didn't happen. Could you imagine?

*The opinions given were my own, and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of L'Oreal.

Beauty Buzz

My usual hair routine is to wash my hair every other day. If I do it every single day my hair just dries out. Lately, when I skip a day my roots have been getting way too oily for me to stand. So I thought I would try a dry shampoo. I picked up this bottle of Suave dry shampoo at my local Target last weekend. It's so simple to use. Just spray some on your roots, rub it in, and your hair looks fresh and not weighed down. What I love about Suave is that it's so inexpensive (and I had a coupon on top of it!)...and it really works wonders. You wouldn't have been able to tell it apart from a more expensive brand. And the smell..............THE SMELL! This is the BEST smelling hair product that I think I have ever tried.

Are you a fan of dry shampoos? Have you ever tried this product? What's your review on it???

Beauty Buzz

I have been a longtime fan of Benefit Cosmetics and for Christmas I received some more of their items to add to my collection. If you have yet to try their makeup, please trust Snapshot Fashion when I say that their items really are must haves!

Sugarbomb- This is probably my most favorite item that not only Benefit has...but my favorite makeup out of all that I own! Just take the brush and swish together the shades of pink, peach, rose, and plum powder to give yourself some remarkable color. The first few times I wore this my husband was like, you look like you have a nice tan...like you have some color to your face. Even though I have an olive skin tone, I am rather pale. This product gives me just the right amount of color that looks natural and pretty. I wear it EVERY day!

Big Beautiful Eyes Palette- This palette is truly incredible. It comes with very simple instructions to make a very professional looking eye. This set comes complete with concealer, base shadow, contouring shadow, liner shadow, and two brushes. I have hazel eyes, and this set makes them look bright green and beautiful! What I love about this set is just how simple it is to make this look...no matter what your skill level is.

Do you have a favorite item from Benefit? Have you tried either of the items that I have reviewed? Please share!

Beauty Buzz

Over the last few months my hair has looked terrible. I'll be the first to say it. I was born with very thick hair and lately it just looks thinner and weak and not pretty. I have heard a lot of positive things about Samy Fat Hair products and thought I'd give it a try. I had nothing to lose! So last weekend I picked up a bottle of the Samy Fat Hair "0" Calories Thickening Spray from my local CVS. I gotta say, the spray works MIRACLES! My hair feels healthy and thick. This spray has definitely earned a spot into my morning beauty routine.

Have you tried any of Samy Fat Hair products? Are there any other brands of thickening sprays that you love? Please feel free to share.

Beauty Buzz

Two weeks ago I was waiting for a presciption at CVS so I was killing time browsing around the store. I came upon the makeup section...like I always do...and saw that Revlon products were buy one get one free. I rarely buy that brand, but have been wanting to try out the ColorStay Ultimate Lipcolor ever since I have seen the ads and commercials with Jennifer Connelly (don't you just love her?). I swear I always pick out the wrong shades of lip wear...but for a buy one get one free deal, I couldn't pass it up.

I decided to try it in: Top Tomato (the shade Jennifer is wearing in the ads), and Stellar Sunrise. I just LOVE this product! I wear Stellar Sunrise almost every day...and on days when I'm feeling extra bold I'll break out the red Top Tomato shade. My favorite thing about this product is that you only have to apply it ONCE and it lasts all day long. It isn't sticky, and doesn't get all dry looking. One simple coat is all you need, and you'll look fabulous all day.

Have you tried this product yet? What colors do you like??? What are your favorite long lasting lipstick brands?

Beauty Buzz

Mom, if you are reading this I owe you a huge thank-you!!! One of the stocking stuffers she got me this year was a tube of Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Lotion with shea butter.

Every winter it seems that my hands get drier and drier. This winter really has been the worst! The skin on my knuckles has been getting so dry that it starts to crack open and even bleed (gross I know!). The skin between my fingers looks like something you would find on a reptile. I had been trying EVERY lotion imaginable and nothing was working. As soon as I put on other lotion my hands they would dry up in minutes. But then I tried this lotion and everything changed!

This lotion by Gold Bond has really saved my hands! If you are having a problem with dry skin I seriously suggest trying it!

Beauty Buzz

Currently I am trying to grow my hair out long so I have been doing anything and everything to keep it healthy. One serious problem with my hair is that it is so dry. To fix this issue I recently went out looking for a new leave-in conditioner and walked out of CVS with Hair Insurance by Aussie. I absolutely LOVE this product. It instantly made my hair light and silky...and the pineapple/coconut aroma leaves my hair smelling amazing.

Do you use a leave-in conditioner? Which brands do you love? Which brands do you hate?

Beauty Buzz

Lately I really have been trying to keep my hair extra healthy because I want it to grow long. When I saw a commercial for John Frieda's Root Awakening Collection it got my attention. What this product claims to do is to give you three times healthier hair, starting at the roots. I HAD TO TRY IT!

The product I bought was the Health Boosting Detangling Spray. This daily leave-in spray nourishes from roots to ends, delivering essential vitamins and effective levels of natural Eucalyptus. It really smells quite good too! When I use the spray it smells like thin mint cookies...yum!

You can really feel this product working. The combination of the natural Eucalyptus and peppermint oil stimulates the scalp with a tingling sensation.

This product can be used on color-treated hair and does not weight it down. Actually I found that it makes my hair extremely soft, silky, and light as air.

Have you tried any of John Frieda's Root Awakening Collection? If you have then let us know what you think of it!

Beauty Buzz

This past weekend I decided it was about time for me to color my hair. It had been a while since my last coloring and I am someone that really has to color their hair pretty often because if I didn't I think my entire head would be WHITE! Yikes!

Since summer is here I thought it would be pretty fun to try some highlights. Usually I will let the professionals handle my highlights...but I didn't really feel like shelling out the dough. So for about $15 I picked up this box of L'Oreal Paris Couleur Experte in Truffle from my local CVS. The Truffle shade has a rich brown base color and lighter brown highlights. The color wasn't all that extreme so I felt pretty safe with it. What I will say is that you really have to take your time with this product...or any highlighting product out there. I did, and I LOVE the way it turned out.

What is great about this product is that it gives you two options for how you can apply it. You can apply the highlights with a wand...or with this double sided sponge (that was what I used). I felt that the sponges really kept the color very even. There is nothing worse than spotty highlights!

Have any of you ever tried this product or any other type of at home highlights?

I have been wanting to try CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain for a while now. They were promoting the product in this past cycle of America's Next Top Model, and Drew Barrymore is looking beautiful wearing the product in magazine ads. So last night I ran to my local CVS and picked up one to try. I always pick out the wrong shade when it comes to lipstick/stain...so I tried to pick something that wasn't too bright or too dark and went with: Teasing Blush. Can I just say, I LOVE IT!!! This product is lightweight and stays put when you wear it. I can't get enough of the color.

Have you tried this product yet? If so, we want to hear what you think of it.

Beauty Flashback

Ever think to yourself...if only I was a celebrity I would never have to worry about my hair or makeup looking bad again. Do you really think that the rich and famous always look (or have looked) picture perfect? Well think again. Maybe it was before they hit it big, maybe they were going through an awkward phase, or even worse...they could have been growing up in the 1980's. Whatever their excuse was, I'm sure these celebs wish that they could burn some of these images...but I guess hair and makeup really is a learning experience.

Pictured are: Jessica Alba, Debra Messing, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tyra Banks, Christina Applegate, Kelly Ripa, Nicole Richie.

From their pictures I think we can all learn something. Less is definitely more...and following the trends of the time will often just end up embarrassing you.

Are there any current beauty or even fashion styles and trends that you think will be cringe-worthy ten years from now?

Beauty Buzz

I just received a sample of Dry Skin Hand Cream with 20% shea butter from L'Occitane. I have some really super dry hands...so I didn't have high expectations because nine times out of ten whatever type of lotion I use rarely works. But I thought why not try it...and OH MY GOODNESS!!! This hand cream is out of this world. My hands feel so soft! The scent of the cream is really nice too...like baby powder. If your hands start cracking when the winter gets rough, or if they can't stand up to the super dry heat in summer, then you need this product.

You can now get this product of Shea Butter Hand Cream in three one ounce tubes for $27 (regularly $30). Try it out and let us know what you think of it!

Beauty Buzz

All of us want to be pampered...but not all of us have enough money set aside to make beauty treatments at salons and spas a regular thing. So, we have put together some great beauty treatments that you can try in your own home. These are inexpensive and fun...so try them out!
**********************************************

Avocado & Egg Yolk Hair Mask-
Mash a small avocado and combine with an egg yolk. Apply to hair for 15 minutes, then rinse and wash your hair as usual. This is a great moisturizing mask for your hair.

Coffee Body Scrub-
2 cups of coarsely ground coffee
1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt
2-3 T massage oil
Mix all ingredients together. Take a hot shower to moisten your skin and open your pores. Using wide, circular motions, rub the coffee exfoliant onto your skin with strong, even pressure. Shower off, pat skin dry, and apply a thin layer of your favorite body lotion.

Banana Mask for wrinkles-
Mash 1/4 banana until very creamy and apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, then use cold water to close the pores.
