Accessorize It

New Year's Eve is upon us...and I know some of you are scrambling to find appropriate party wear for tonight. One thing that you can be sure of is that the little black dress is an easy way to get yourself out of jam when you have little to no time to go shopping. Maybe you have worn your LBD to a few too many parties...well we say, "ACCESSORIZE IT!"

Shown here is the Alina Babydoll Dress available at Delia's. This dress is very affordable ($39.50) and has Grecian-style twisted straps and front shirring detail.

Even though the dress is cute by itself, we want to amp it up a bit. I mean it is NYE after all! Below are a number of accessories that will look fantastic with the dress shown above (or any black dress for that matter). Pick one or two accessories you like and turn a rather safe dress into a party favorite!

Beauty Buzz

Mom, if you are reading this I owe you a huge thank-you!!! One of the stocking stuffers she got me this year was a tube of Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Lotion with shea butter.

Every winter it seems that my hands get drier and drier. This winter really has been the worst! The skin on my knuckles has been getting so dry that it starts to crack open and even bleed (gross I know!). The skin between my fingers looks like something you would find on a reptile. I had been trying EVERY lotion imaginable and nothing was working. As soon as I put on other lotion my hands they would dry up in minutes. But then I tried this lotion and everything changed!

This lotion by Gold Bond has really saved my hands! If you are having a problem with dry skin I seriously suggest trying it!

Size Doesn't Matter

I can't stress enough how much I adore V Magazine. Today when I came across this One Size Fits All photo spread it made me love them even more (I didn't know that was possible!). Here models Jacquelyn Jablonski and Crystal Renn show that it doesn't matter what size you are...ANYONE can wear the new spring trends. It just takes some confidence and making sure that you get the right size for your body type (we don't need you squeezing into something three sizes too small).

To see the full shoot please click here.

Don't you just find this piece so refreshing?

Mila in BlackBook

Mila Kunis definitely has to be one of my favorite young stars in Hollywood these days. So you know I was very pleased to stumble across a recent spread she did for BlackBook Magazine. Here are some of my favorite photos from it.

What do you think of Mila's photo shoot?

Book of the Day

Today when I was browsing the new items on Mod Cloth I came across this book, Chanel: Collections and Creations by Daniele Bott. This book is a brilliant, visually stunning collection of all-things Chanel. It explores five central themes of Chanel - the suit, the camellia, jewelry, fragrances, and make-up. This really is a fabulous book for every fashionista to have in her collection.

Shopping Roundup

There are some really fantastic after Christmas sales going on right now. If you have the energy to do some shopping I suggest checking these out---

~Piperlime is now taking up to 40% off. Don't forget that they also have free shipping and free returns!

~The winter sale event continues at Banana Republic. Right now you can save up to 40% online and in stores.

~Take an additional 25% off of all sale items at LOFT.

Would You Wear This?

This photo of Eva Mendes was taken when she attended the Sherlock Holmes premiere in New York City. This outfit is doing nothing for me. I think that the blazer would look cute with a pair of great fitting jeans and heels...and the dress would look good by itself. But when they both are worn together...it just doesn't work. I feel that the blazer was just an after thought...like she realized it was gonna be cold so she just threw on whatever she had. Eva, you can do better than this!

I want to know what you think of this look. Would you wear it?

*Great Deal*

You can never have too many LBDs right? I have so many, but I always make space in my tiny closet for more. I just can't get enough of them!

If you also love LBDs then I know this Sheath Knit Dress from Banana Republic will take your breath away. The best part about this dress is the price. It was originally marked at $125, but now it is on sale for only $59.99. You can't beat that deal!

*Select sizes remain.

One thing that every fashionista needs in their closet is a pair of red heels. Right now I am drooling over these Mixx Tokyo 01 Red Kid Suede Studded Pradaesque Heels available at LuLu's. They have a 1/4" platform at  the toe with a four inch covered heel. At a very affordable $39 this shoe is a must have!

Lookin' Fab

I just adore Kate Hudson. And I think I like her even more after watching her last night on Inside the Actor's Studio. One thing I love about her is her wardrobe. Check out this amazing outfit she had on the other night in NYC.

Typically, I'm really not one for dressy pants. I kind of hate them actually. I guess I feel that if I'm getting dressed up I want to wear a dress or a skirt. But Kate really looks amazing in these wide-leg slacks. Maybe I should give dress slacks another chance...

Last Minute Gift Ideas---Hearst Magazines

If you are in the need of a last minute gift I suggest checking out the fantastic holiday sale going on at Hearst Magazines right now. They have $5 magazine subscriptions available in a number of your favorite magazines including: Harper's BAZAAR, Marie Claire, Oprah Magazine, Food Network Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and so many more!

A magazine subscription really is a fantastic gift...and $5 won't break the bank either. While you there you might as well buy a few subscriptions for yourself too!

Dress Like a Celebrity

One of my favorite style icons (and actress for that matter) has to be Reese Witherspoon. No matter what she wears she always looks like a million bucks. From her award show gowns, to a casual look in jeans...Reese always looks so put together. For instance, check out the adorable look she was spotted in when she was recently out shopping in Beverly Hills.

So simple, yet so chic! I love this look so much that I though it would be fun to put together a more afforable version of this outfit for my readers. Now you too can dress like Reese without breaking the bank!

Christmas Came Early

This year my husband and I decided to exchange gifts early since we're going out of town over the holidays. Exchanging presents now seemed to make much more sense...that way we won't have to haul our gifts along with us and back. My husband actually went completely overboard this year. I think I'm pretty easy to shop for...if you know what I like. This year I got lots of great items that I just adore. Mostly clothing (but that was totally what I wanted) and some CDs filled my packages. Santa really did treat me extra good this year!  :-)

So what did I get??? Well here are a few of my FAVORITE items---

I got this beautiful Silence & Noise Long Side Zip Coat in dark plum. Can I just say, I LOVE THIS COLOR! I have been asking for this coat for the last few weeks...and I really didn't think I'd get it. It's so bold and so fun...so very me. The coat fits me perfectly...and I really love the unique zipper. It's a subtle way to add some edge.

I was in desperate need of a new black cardigan. This BDG Double Breasted Cardigan Sweater is so fabulous! It's rather light and super soft. I want to wear this every single day.

I also got a number of items from Brooklyn Industries (love that store!). One of my favorite items that I received from there is this Laura Silk Dress in black. I actually have it on today (along with some bright red tights). If you love it you might want to head on over there now because it has been drastically reduced in price. If you love the dress but don't like it in black it does come in a beautiful shade of blue as well.

Stay Warm While Looking Cool

If you are on the east coast you most certainly are aware of the upcoming winter storm heading our way this weekend. This morning I was hearing so many different reports of possible accumulation. Some channels were saying 5-10", others said 6-12", and some even scared me by warning that we could see 16-24" in NYC! The one thing I have learned from my years here in NYC is that we rarely get snow. And the few times that we do get snow it usually melts away so fast...unlike where I'm originally from (south central Pennsylvania). The fact that they even had the nerve to say we could see a maximum of two feet of snow is seriously sending me into a panic...mostly because I HATE SNOW! I think it's pretty when it is coming down...but I wish that once I stepped outside it was sunny and in the 50-70 degree range. I just don't do well in cold weather!

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have any issues with our heat. A few weeks ago our building put in a new boiler, and ever since then we have been having heating issues...especially on the weekends. Needless to say I will be bundling up this weekend in hopes to stay toasty warm. Here are some of my favorite cold weather items that will keep you looking stylish even in the coldest of temperatures.

I don't know about you but I live in my slippers! Snapshot Fashion suggests throwing on a comfy pair to keep your toes extra warm. These Sweater Knit Slippers from Forever21 will do the trick. They come in two great colors: pink and blue.

I am obsessed with legwarmers! They are the perfect item to have on hand when the weather starts getting chilly. I actually wore a pair yesterday. Wearing them actually keeps my legs warm enough that I can still wear cute skirts when the temperature starts to dip. Check out these legwarmers from American Apparel. They are available in four fantastic colors. The only drawback in wearing them is that strangers might stop you to make Flashdance references (yes, that did happen to me once).

Do you love Zoe? You know I do! Check out this utterly fabulous Faux-Fur Rachel Vest from BB Dakota available at Fred Flare. Now I probably wouldn't wear a furry vest like this in sunny (AKA warm) California like Rachel does...but I do love the look of it and think that it the perfect piece for a chilly afternoon.

A word of advice to stay extra warm this winter...make sure you get a pair of long gloves! They will keep your hands AND arms extra toasty! I just adore this pair from Mod Cloth. They come in a variety of colors, so you'll be sure to find a pair that you must have!

If you absolutely despise getting hat hair maybe you should try wearing a pair of ear muffs. This year it seems that ear muffs are back with a bang! I have been seeing them EVERYWHERE. I love this pair of Queen Bee Ear Muffs from Mod Cloth. I really like the mustard color and the unique knit.

How will you stay warm this winter???

Shopping Roundup

The holiday shopping season is starting to come to an end. I'm so happy I finished up my shopping yesterday, especially since we're going to be getting a major snow storm in the northeast this weekend. However, if you happen to be a last minute shopper you probably are so because of the fabulous deals that happen right before Christmas. Here is a roundup of my favorites---

~Take 33% off of all jewelry at Rilee and Lo when you use the code GIFT when you place your order. This sale is going on through the 22nd.

~Fred Flare now has free shipping through December 22nd. Please use the discount code REINDEER when making a purchase.

~Right now you can take an additional 25% off of all the sale items at Intermix. You will need to enter the promo code SALE25 at checkout.

If you are like me there is one thing (and only one thing) that you love about the cooler weather---wearing cardigans! I just came across the most adorable cardigan sweater at Anthropologie. The Puckered & Pleated Cardigan comes in three great colors: black, gold, and grey (which is shown here). Originally this sweater sold for $128...but now it is has been marked down to $69.95! Select sizes are available.

H&M Coupon

Right now Nylon and H&M are saving customers money. When you click here you'll find a coupon that will take $10 off of any purchase of $50 or more. I wish I had this coupon when I was there the other week...but I guess that is what I get for getting my shopping done early this year.  :-P

Pick of the Day

I absolutely love boots. My only issue with them is that I wish the ones that I loved weren't so pricey...and the ones that are affordable usually don't look all that appealing to me. However, I did just come across these Urban Horseriding Boots from Ruche. They are very affordable and are the perfect footwear to pair with skinny jeans or a casual skirt. Don't you just love them?

Flashback Friday

We haven't done Flashback Friday in a while...so I thought we were beyond due. So put your thinking caps on. We'd love to hear your guesses!

Today she is a household name...but many are surprised to learn that she was once a model.

Do you have any idea who this beauty is? Find out after the jump.

Art, Jewelry, and Music...Oh My!

I'm sure that if you are like me you are starting to get really stressed out about shopping for those that are hard to shop for. As the holidays draw near I sort of go into a panic mode. Well even if I can't think of things to buy for my loved ones (really just my Grandma...she is impossible!)...maybe I can give you a few ideas for those on your shopping list.

This may be hard to believe, but sometimes I don't have all the answers when it comes to shopping. This is when I turn to my friends. Luckily I have two very talented artist friends that both have amazing gift ideas that they put together...and I know you all will love them!

Let's start off with a name you might remember, Kristen Terrana. Last year the CD that she put together was featured on Snapshot Fashion, and the good news is that she still has some available for sale! The CD entitled Tracks for Change is comprised of up-and-coming musicians from across the country that have donated a song for the cause. This is a gift that keeps on giving. All profits from this album will go to the charity "Sweet Home New Orleans" to help musicians who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Tracks for Change is available on CD Baby, so you have the option to simply download the MP3s or purchase the CD. It would make such a fabulous gift!

Be sure to check out Kristen's website to view her artwork. And, if you are in the NYC area check out the amazing mural she just created for the Red Cross on W 49th St. and 10th Ave.

Now on to my other dear friend, Olivia Peach. She has just opened up an etsy account and is making some amazing jewelry which include earrings, necklaces, and pendants that actually have been created using images from her original paintings. I love this idea of wearable art! They truely are so unique and beautiful...and so affordable! Please take a moment to view all of the jewelry she has up on her shop. She keeps adding new stuff...so be sure to keep checking back.

To view more of Olivia's artwork check out her website. She has her original work for sale on there as well as prints of some of her work.

So please check out both Kristen's and Olivia's sites. Help support these artists, as well as get some very interesting and unique gifts!
