Would You Wear This?

Not everyone can wear lime green and look fabulous...but I gotta give credit where it is due. Christina Ricci looks amazing in this hue. BUT there is one thing that I really don't like about this dress...the waist...or lack there of. I think this dress would look much more complete if it had a black belt of some sort.

What do you think? Would you wear it???

Discount @ Whitney Eve

I don't know about you but I was BEYOND happy that The City started it's second season this week on MTV. Whitney is making all of her fans super happy because right now she is giving shoppers of Whitney Eve 10% off of their order when they enter the code "TheCity" at checkout. If you spend over $200, and you enter the code "WESP10," it's good for 20% off! How fantastic is that?!?!?!

Prom 2010

It's that time of year again...time for teens to dress up like Cinderella, get all made up, schedule a hair appointment, and book that limo. That's right, prom season is upon us! If you are heading to prom this spring Snapshot Fashion has some adorable prom dresses picked out for you. I have to admit, some of these dresses are so cute I'd wear them now (even though my senior prom was 11 years ago...*sigh*).

Wearing a black and/or white look is always in style. I remember my prom dress was black...and when I look back at my prom pictures I'm not at all embarrassed by my dress.

We've picked out some adorable dresses for girls with curves. I am so in love with the multi-hued purple dress (bottom row, center).

Long gowns are still very much in style too. Here are some dresses that are beyond elegant.

Every time I think of PROM I have to think of Molly Ringwald in Pretty In Pink.

If you are going to prom this year what will you wear?
If you need more help in selecting a dress contact Snapshot Fashion and we'll help you out! Consider us your personal stylist.  :-)

Fashion Blogger of the Week

This week's featured fashion blogger is The Clothes Horse. I don't know about you but I want just about everything in Rebecca's closet...and her gorgeous photos make me want to move to the northwest. *sigh* Let's take a moment to learn a little bit more about this fashionista---

Why did you start blogging?
It was really a culmination of several things. I was reading a lot of blogs and I started to want to interact with the bloggers, but not as an anonymous stranger. I also had just finished a study abroad in Japan to return to rural PA and my usual business classes. I was feeling creatively starved and stranded, so my blog became my form of escapism. I was able to connect to people with similar interests online and had a reason to do the creative pursuits that I loved, like taking photographs, doodling, and even just collection sources of inspiration in one spot.

How would you describe your personal style?
Quirky romantic; I just dress for the fantasy that I would like to be living rather than how uneventful my day actually is. Velvet on a rainy day for running errands and walking the dog? Yes, and throw on some printed tights and a vintage fascinator or silver headdress too. There’s always some personal touch and usually that is in the form of a headpiece.

If you could raid anyone's closet, who would it be and why?
Sofia Coppola; I love her style and she friendly with a lot of a fantastic designers. I definitely she has a lot of pieces I would love.

Who would you love to give a wardrobe makeover?
I don’t really know…maybe Leighton Meester’s on-stage/performance outfits. I like a lot of different styles and tons of people who don’t dress like me, so different looks really don’t bother me. However, I do think Miss Meester has made a number of mis-steps and knowing how well she can look and thinking of other performers that manage to look good on and off stage, I think someone needs to take her in hand!

If you could give one fashion tip to anyone, what would it be?
Play around and have fun; we never know about things unless we try them. You never knew you loved chocolate until someone gave you a piece, so how do you know a boater/fedora/bowler won’t suit you? I think you need to be open to trying every sartorial option and just standing in front of a mirror playing with pieces, colors, and styles.

and now for everyone's favorite...QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS---

gold or silver?
gold

heels or flats?
flats

vintage or DIY?
vintage (I’m too lazy to do a lot of DIYs)

front row or backstage?
backstage

lipstick or lipgloss?
lipstick; usually it is just chapstick, but if I actually go for a color: always lipstick.

If you have yet to check out her site stop on over there now.

Book of the Day

When I was younger I wanted to be a fashion designer. But then I came to realize that I am awful at sewing. The worst. It's just not for me. But I know a ton of you out there are super crafty so I thought you'd love this book, Make Your Own Clothes. This book contains great photographs and easy-to-follow instructions, as well as CD of software that generates a pattern, based on one of the twenty featured in the book's pages, to fit your body exactly. All you have to do is type in your measurements and you get your very own custom pattern. Pretty amazing right?

Right now it is available on ModCloth...so make sure you stop on by before it sells out.

Fashion Blogger/Reader Meet-Up

So it's been quite a while since I have attended or thrown a blogger meet-up. Over the last week I have been thinking about trying to throw another meet-up (in NYC) in the very near future and was wondering if there is much interest in this. I always think that meeting our readers and other bloggers is such a fantastic opportunity to network and make friends.

Some ideas I was having for themes are:
~clothing swap
~come as your favorite fashionable character
~karaoke?
.......but those are just a few ideas. I want this to be fun.  :-)   I want to see who is interested in getting together first before I get any details planned.

Please leave me a comment on here or send me an email (snapshotfashion@gmail.com) to let me know if you'd be interested in such an event. Again this event will take place in NYC. Also, let me know if there are any dates that would work better for you.

Dress Like a Celebrity

The other day Ginnifer Goodwin showed up to the N.Y.C. launch of Zac Posen for Target wearing this harem pants/blazer combo. Now I'm not going to lie...I hate hate hate harem pants. They remind me of the MC Hammer pants I owned in the 4th grade. But the pair that Ginnifer has on here actually look really cute (they don't appear to be too droopy).

I put together a super affordable version of this outfit. Click on the collage below to see where each piece is from.

Kirsten in V Magazine

Fashion Blogger of the Week

This week we are featuring Jen from jennifhsieh. I met Jen during Fashion Week this year and she was a total sweetheart with an adorable sense of style. Let's get to know her a little better---

Why did you start blogging?
After graduating high school, my best friend moved thousands of miles away. To keep in touch, she had the idea of starting a fashion blog together since we both had an interest in it. Eventually she became too overwhelmed with school work and so I started a blog of my own since I grew to love being a part of the blogging community.   :-)

How would you describe your personal style?
I would probably describe my style as being minimalistic, comfortable, and casual. I would choose flats over heels in order to be comfortable. I choose simple, classic, and timeless pieces, mixing in a few of my favorite trends every now and then. I also tend to stick to neutral or darker colors and avoid anything too bright.

If you could raid anyone's closet, who would it be and why?
Without a doubt, Alexa Chung. I can't get over how effortlessly chic she looks all the time. I don't think I've ever caught her wearing something that would show up on a worst-dressed list! All of her outfits are always so well put together and she knows what flatters her body type. I'm pretty sure there's nothing she can't pull off.

Who would you love to give a wardrobe makeover?
This might sounds stupid, but I'm going to have to go right ahead and pick my brother. He hates clothes shopping with a passion and puts the minimal amount of effort into what he wears. He used to refuse to wear denim jeans until only two years ago, after MUCH convincing. Although he's never looked tremendously horrible, I think his wardrobe could use a update.   :-)

If you could give one fashoin tip to anyone, what would it be?
Be Comfortable. Clothes shouldn't be painful to wear since you spend the majority of your life in them. Are those 5-inch heels giving you the worst blisters you've ever experienced? Take them off and put on a pair of flats. Are you sucking in every little bit of yourself just to get into that dress you bought which was a size too small? Return the dress. Beauty should not have to be pain.

and now time for some fun QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS---

gold or silver?
Gold

heels or flats?
Both

vintage or DIY?
Vintage

front row or backstage?
Backstage

lipstick or lipgloss?
Is chapstick an option?  :-P

Make sure you check out Jen's site!!!

*Great Deal*

This Free People Short Sleeve Smocked Lace Combo Dress is the perfect frock to wear this spring/summer. No matter if you are relaxing in a park, out to brunch with your girlfriends, or sipping on some happy hour cocktails you will look radiant in this dress.

What I love about this dress is that it will never go out of style. Black and white should be key shades in every fashionista's closet. It is an excellent piece to have on hand on days when you just don't know what to wear. It is simple. It is casual. It is chic!

It is now on sale at Bloomingdale's. Originally priced at $128...now on sale for $96.

Lookin' Fab

Mary-Kate Olsen looked fantastic in this casual number at the opening of vegetarian restaurant Otarian in NYC. Isn't her Dries Van Noten jacket just to die for? That shade of green really works for MK. And her hair is looking quite cute too!

What do you think of this look???
