I saw an amazing deal via LivingSocial for a hotel so I knew I had to purchase it. As of now we know that we are going to be checking out the National Mall, Museum of American History, and have dinner reservations at Jaleo (since we simply love José Andrés). We'll only be in town overnight...but I wanted to reach out to my readers to see if any of you have suggestions of things we must see or do. Please feel free to leave me a comment or write me an email. I have been trying to do my research on DC because I hate going to a new city without a game plan. I would love to hear your suggestions!
P.S. I will definitely be posting some of my pictures after our trip. So stay tuned! :-)

I adore DC! I've been there twice within the past two years and it's always so much fun. I always try to go during the spring for the Cherry Blossom festival but I always miss it or the blossoms are already gone. Definitely check out the museums - I know that's such a typical thing to do but you can't go wrong with any of them. I also really just loved lying on the grass near the monument. I'm not sure how chilly it'll be next weekend but if the weather cooperates, then definitely just spend a few minutes there. :)
Have fun!!!
thanks jen! :)
You could spend days just at the Smithsonian!! You will have a blast whichever you do! I hear the architecture and ambiance of Georgetown is a great experience!!

Looks like you are in for a lot of fun! enjoy your trip and don't forget to relax and stop to smell the flowers, just like the gorgeous photo on your post!
Ooo sounds like a great trip, Diane! And I cannot believe you've never been to D.C.!!! But at the same time, I totally understand. Cath and I grew up just 25 minutes north west of the city and didn't go into town as much as we should have.
That said, if you guys like dim sum there are still a few places in the dwindling Chinatown that have some good eats.
Can't wait to see the pics from your trip!
