Beauty Buzz: OGX

Lately I have fallen in love with a the OGX brand of hair products. I have tried so many of them including: Brazilian Keratin Therapy, Argan Oil of Morocco, and so many others...but my current favorite (which is in my shower right now) has to be the Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner. It is fantastic.

This product works so great on smoothing my hair on even the most humid of days. Also, my hair feels so thick and strong! Even my husband also uses it and said, "It makes my hair feel so full"...in which I said, "Better than it making it feel thin!"

What do you think of OGX products? Have you used them before? Which are your favorites?

Auburn Is The New Black

I'm always up for a change. I started to feel like I was in a rut with my hair over the last few weeks and knew that I had to do something. Not wanting to cut it, I decided to change up my color!

On Saturday I went to my favorite hair salon to switch up my look. After coming across some amazing auburn looks on Pinterest (and obsessing over Lily Collins hair) I decided that adding some auburn highlights to my hair and making a richer brown was the way to go...and I love it!!! I'm all about subtle changes.

What are your thoughts on my new auburn look?

100 Years of Beauty in 1 Minute

I had to share this with all of you, because it is beyond awesome! Every decade seems to have its own signature look...and Cut proved this by putting together a video showing a model getting her hair and makeup done to represent each decade.

Which of these looks is your favorite? I have to say, I'm all about 1960!

PRODUCT REVIEW- Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray

For the last week and a half I have been obsessing over the Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray that my friends at Philip Kingsley sent over for me to check out. As some of you know, I complain about my hair a lot.  It's dry, it breaks easily, etc. I have been trying a number of new products over the last few months...trying to get my hair back to looking normal. This is exactly why I was so excited to try this Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray.

It detangles, provides heat protection, repairs the damage, adds shine and volume, and even protects your hair from UV rays. I mean all that in a light spray? And it doesn't make your hair greasy or weigh it down. Sounds like perfection in a bottle!

I know I have only been using it for a short amount of time, but I honestly already see a difference. My hair is easier to manage, and just has an overall healthier look to it. Also, my hair isn't breaking as much...which has me very, very, very happy.

Be sure to stop by Philip Kingsley's website to purchase a bottle of Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray, and check out the rest of their fantastic line of haircare products.

Urban Turban

This weekend I finally made it down to Joe Fresh for the first time. I know a lot of my Canadian friends have been raving about them for quite some time now. I have to admit, when I walked into the store I was in love. Super affordable prices, bold colors, and their items fit me so well (that is if you don't count the one item I bought that was obviously not sized properly...and my husband will be returning this week for me).

As I mentioned to everyone in my hangout on Friday, pants in my wardrobe are seriously lacking! So I was super happy to purchase these raspberry hued capri pants. Perfect for summer!!!

Another thing I totally fell in love with over the weekend was Garneir's Olia haircolor. Have you tried this product yet??? I was in desperate need of color because my hair is so white without it (even though I know nobody believes me, it is!) and didn't really want to spend over $100-150+ at the salon. So I thought I'd give Olia a try.

I was so impressed at how rich the color was! It also made my hair so soft and silky...and didn't stink! I know if I color my hair at home in the future I will definitely be using Olia. Take it from me (someone that has tried just about every hair coloring product out there), this really is the best hair color I have tried in a long time!

Personally, I'm still torn on whether or not I can pull this headwrap off. The more I wear it, the more it is starting to grow on me. What are your thoughts on this bohemian trend?

Victory Rolls

Today I'm feeling a little retro. Over the last few days I have been obsessed with vintage hair and makeup tutorials via YouTube (mainly by The Cherry Dollface). Now like I have said in my last post, I almost never do anything extreme (AKA complicated) with my hair. I'm just not all that talented when it comes to hair, or makeup for that matter. But I will say that The Cherry Dollface was very clear in her tutorials. So I thought, why not give it a shot.

So I thought it would be fun to start out by trying some victory rolls in my hair and practicing my eyeliner the way she suggested to do it. Well, I think I got the one roll pretty good...and one eye pretty good! HAHA! I guess practice makes perfect. Also, I will say that the hair is a look I love on others...but was very nervous about wearing on myself. It just seemed so "big". I didn't make this hairstyle as tight as she suggested, mainly because I didn't have all the tools needed. But I wanted to give it a shot anyway.

What do you think of this retro/vintage/pin up girl hairstyle? Can I pull it off...or should I just let this to the pros???

Anastasia Beverly Hills- Hypercolor Brow & Hair Powder

I absolutely adore Anastasia Beverly Hills. They were kind enough to let me review their brand new Hypercolor Brow & Hair Powder that just became available at ULTA (retailing at $12.50, each sold separately).

The artist in me always thought adding bright and bold colors to my locks would be so fun...but then my practical side kicks in saying, you'll never get a job with pink hair! What I love so much about Hypercolor is that it washes out! So there is zero commitment. The other thing I love is just how easy it is to use. I'm definitely not an expert when it comes to hair...but this was so simple. I threw in a few streaks and it took me all of two minutes. All you have to do is prep your hair with some styling cream, swipe the powder color compact on your hair, and set it with hairspray. It's that easy!

Hypercolor comes in five great colors: In The Pink, Teal Tornado, Mega Watt Green, Electric Blue, and Ultra Violet (which I am wearing here).

Hair chalk tends to dry your hair out, and that is something that you do not have to worry about with Hypercolor.

I'm so excited to try out all of these amazing colors. Such a fun way to spice up my hair...don't you agree?

Natalie's New Look

A few days ago Natalie Portman debuted her new hairstyle. Natalie dyed her hair blonde for an upcoming movie role. And no, it isn't as drastic as when she shaved her head a few years ago...but the internet is buzzing about this new blonde do.

I want to know what you think of this look on her. Do you think she should keep it after the filming of her movie is done? Personally, I prefer Natalie as a brunette...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she returns to her darker locks.

Red Lips & Curls

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Labor Day weekend! Today I curled my hair and did up my makeup...thinking we were going to head on out to walk around town. As soon as I finished getting ready, it started to downpour outside. Fantastic. That's just my luck.

Well, at least hanging out inside the house on a damp and icky day won't make my curls fall flat or start to frizz. And I have to admit, bright red lipstick makes even the dreariest day even better. It makes me instantly happy!  :-)

What are your plans today/tomorrow? Picnics? Shopping? Catching up on some much needed rest?

Beauty Buzz

I have a new obsession: L'Oreal Root Rescue. Have you tried this color yet? It is absolutely amazing. I don't know about you, but I can't really afford salon color every few weeks. What makes this product so great? It only takes 10 minutes to apply, goes on so easy, and it even matches professional color! How fantastic is that?!?! I really love that I'm only coloring my roots and not constantly damaging all of my hair in the process. I really was quite skeptical about this concept, thinking that I would end up with a stripe down the middle of my head. Thank goodness that didn't happen. Could you imagine?

Olsen Twins Win Top Honor At CFDA Awards

Last night Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were given the top award of the evening at the Council of Fashion Designers of America. They were named Womenswear Designer of the Year. Their fashion label, The Row, has been praised for years...and now they are really showing that they can stand strong with others in the industry. I have to give the girls credit where credit is due. Here's to a job well done!

For all you Olsen fans out there did you notice that Mary-Kate debuted a brunette hairstyle at the awards. I have to say, I kind of love it on her. What are your thoughts? Should Ashley follow MK's steps and switch up her hair a little?

And a quick side note...at the CFDA Awards Johnny Depp (who was not in attendance) received the Fashion Icon Award. I love Johnny Depp (who doesn't???), but fashion icon? Seriously? His fashion sense is typically atrocious. Who do you think deserved the award of fashion icon?

Beauty Buzz

My usual hair routine is to wash my hair every other day. If I do it every single day my hair just dries out. Lately, when I skip a day my roots have been getting way too oily for me to stand. So I thought I would try a dry shampoo. I picked up this bottle of Suave dry shampoo at my local Target last weekend. It's so simple to use. Just spray some on your roots, rub it in, and your hair looks fresh and not weighed down. What I love about Suave is that it's so inexpensive (and I had a coupon on top of it!)...and it really works wonders. You wouldn't have been able to tell it apart from a more expensive brand. And the smell..............THE SMELL! This is the BEST smelling hair product that I think I have ever tried.

Are you a fan of dry shampoos? Have you ever tried this product? What's your review on it???

The Haircut

So I have gotten a few comments and emails from my readers asking me what style I went with for my haircut. I just wanted to follow up...I guess I didn't really pick any of the three celeb styles I listed. Just told my stylist to take off 3-4" and just let her do her own thing. This isn't the best picture (I should have taken one last night when I came home from getting it done)...but I really do love it. It feels a lot fuller and healthier. LOVE IT! The only thing that stinks is that I still have to clip my bangs back because they aren't quite long enough to tuck behind my ear yet...*sigh* Maybe in a few weeks they will be.

New Hairstyle

Next week I (finally) go for a haircut and color. It's been way too long since my last appointment. Holidays got in the way, and then I forgot to call...and when I finally did my girl was booked up for weeks. I'm in the mood for a new look...but I don't know what style I want. Currently I'm growing out my bangs and my hair is rather long (about 5-6 inches past my shoulders). It's just been looking kind of blah lately, and I need a new look. I'm keeping my haircolor the same...or similar...to what I have.

Here are some styles I like---

Jessica Alba

Gwyneth Paltrow

Rachel McAdams

Let me know your thoughts. Do you like any of these styles? Is there another style that you think would look better that I haven't thought of?

Vote For Style

I love it when celebrities keep their look fresh and new. I think one celebrity that is a pro at this is Katy Perry. She is always so very creative and fun with her outfits and make-up and her hair is always different (and perfect!). Looking over the last few years of her hairstyles I was surprised with just how many looks she had.

Today I have been so into hair. This morning I went and got a much needed cut. Just a trim off the bottoms and decided to switch it up and get some bangs. Eeehhh...it was okay. The girl I went to made my bangs a bit too thin...so I had to fix them when I got home. But if I learned anything from Katy's ever changing style, it is that hair grows back and a change here and there is always a good thing.

Kristen's New Hair

Kristen Stewart arrived at The Late Show with David Letterman looking slightly different. She changed her hair! It has been very dark for some time now, making this red hue very refreshing and perfect for the summer. I'm loving this color so much I wish I had it...*sigh*.

What do you think of Kristen's new hair color?

Hana Flat Iron Review & Giveaway!

If you know anything about Misikko I'm sure you that you know that they have a number of fantastic professional flat irons. Thanks to Misikko we're hosting a Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron (Pink Edition) giveaway! Not only was Misikko kind enough to provide a flat iron to one of Snapshot Fashion's readers...but they also sent one my way so I could try it out myself.

I have heard many good things about the Chi flat iron (another brand they carry), but Hana was a brand that was completely new to me. I was very excited to see for my own eyes how the Hana compared with the Chi hair straightener.

I have to admit, when I opened the box a smile came upon my face...red ribbon and red rose...the packaging was too cute!

Okay, so I'm sure plenty of you know...pink is my all-time favorite color. I was sooooo excited to see this flat iron in person. Not only is the flat iron pink, but so is the flat iron's case. *ADORABLE!*

My hair is naturally very VERY wavy...and not in a good way. In the photo below I actually blew my hair out straight the night before (if you can believe that!)...but with the way the weather is my hair kinda frizzed out a bit. So I thought that tonight would be a fantastic time to try out the Hana Professional Flat Iron.

I was a little nervous about trying this flat iron...because when I held it I couldn't believe just how light it was! Compared to the flat iron I have owned for years, it almost felt like a toy. But this flat iron really packed a punch. It heated up instantly. This iron has advanced fusion tourmaline ceramic plates for accelerated ion generation & maximum frizz-free shine. Not only that, the ceremic plates float so that they can auto-adjust to glide over any texture hair.

What a difference this straightener made to my look! My hair is so silky and sleek. Before using the flat iron I also put some Hana Shine Shield in my hair (which Misikko was kind enough to include).

I can honestly say that this is the best flat iron I have ever used! Would you like to try out a Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron (Pink Edition) like I did? You know you want to! Well now is your chance. The lovely people at Misikko are providing one of my readers with one!
