Gingham Girl

Today Rocko and I were enjoying some of this lovely weather in our courtyard. Him in a dog bone print and myself in gingham...and both in red. He might not have been so happy that we dressed like twins...but I won this battle. Aren't we just adorable together!?!?!

I have been doing a bunch of shopping at Lord & Taylor lately. That's what happens when you work two blocks from their midtown location. Not that I really mind...they have been having amazing sales lately (and their show department is spectacular!). Stop by now because they are having their friends and family sale! You can thank me later!

So much going on in my neighborhood this weekend. We'll be stopping by the Northside Festival and it's festivities on Bedford Avenue. Art, music, food, and fun...sounds like a good time to me. Follow along on my Instagram and Snapchat (snapshotfashion) for my adventures!!!

Have a happy Saturday!

My McCarren Park

dress- Romeo & Juliet Couture thrifted from Crossroads Trading Co./ wedge sandals- Bakers/ fringe purse- H&M

I'm not a nature girl at all. Dirt, bugs, allergies...I hate it all. But I have to say, I love that I live near a park while living in a city. Actually, now that I think of it I always have had a park in my backyard while in NYC. When we lived in the East Village we had Tompkins Square Park, when we lived in the Upper East Side we had Central Park, and now that we are in North Williamsburg we have McCarren Park which I love so much! It's full or pretty flowers, has a great farmer's market, and Rocko's favorite dog run. It's our little part of nature that we need in this concrete jungle.

Rocko is loving this warm and sunny weather.

Isn't this dress the cutest? I picked it up at Crossroads Trading Co. the other week. Can you believe that this adorable scuba swing dress was marked down to $6??? SIX DOLLARS! I love that store. I always have such luck there picking up great second hand finds!

I hope you all have a lovely Saturday! Get out there and enjoy it!

It's A Beautiful Day In My Neighborhood

As soon as I woke up this morning I was beyond excited to hear that it was in the low 50s! HELLO AUTUMN! I have been waiting for this cooler weather for quite some time...mainly so I could wear my new faux fur coat. It's not heavy enough for winter wear...so I have to give it as much attention in fall as possible.

Today was also a great morning to go for a walk around my neighborhood (Williamsburg, Brooklyn). I definitely wanted to stop by this new mural that Kobra just put up last week. It is amazing! I mean, his work always is, but this mural made the art history major in me swoon.

Even Rocko liked it!!!  :-)

A staple in my wardrobe has to be black booties. I just realized that I have five pairs of short black ankle boots...and I don't think that is enough. Yeah, I'm kind of obsessed. What is your must have wardrobe staple???

dress: Forever 21 (now on sale!)/ faux fur coat: H&M/ tights: H&M/ belt: Kohl's/ fringe purse: H&M/ booties: Silence + Noise available at Urban Outfitters (now on sale!)/ hat: H&M

Rocko and I might look happy here but we're both sick. I think I'm coming down with the cold my husband had last week (ugh!), and poor little Rocko is having the worst allergy attacks lately. I have to call the vet this morning, and hopefully his doctor can see him today. Fingers crossed! I hate it when this fluffball isn't feeling well.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! It's been rather gloomy here in NYC, but I'm not letting that spoil it. So far it has been full of tons of long walks, a Broadway show, and hanging out with my favorite pup. Perfection.

I thought I'd put together a list of my favorite links this week. Enjoy---

~Guys love J.Crew gingham shirts...for real. FYI, this is hilarious.

~Janis Joplin's niece, Malyn Joplin, has a new clothing line out called Made for Pearl which is inspired by her aunt. If you know how much I adore Janis Joplin, you can surely understand how much I'm obsessed with this line.

~Bella Hadid just signed with IMG models. She's the 17-year-old daughter to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster and sister to 19-year-old Sports Illustrated model Gigi Hadid.

~Kelly Osbourne is launching her first contemporary fashion line for women. Her line, Stories...By Kelly Osbourne, will become available on HSN on September 25th.

In other news...I chopped my hair! I said goodbye to my long locks and hello to a new look. My favorite salon, HeadChop, hooked me up with a long angled bob and I think it is adorable.

Beach Blanket Bingo

It seems like lately all I have been doing is dreaming of having a swimming pool, talking about the heatwave, and dripping in sweat. Even on this blog, every post seems to revolve around me talking about just how hot it is outside. I just can't help it. Every day this week the heat index has the temperatures flying well over 100 degrees...and I know the majority of the country is suffering too. So, I thought right now would be a great time to talk about swimwear. I know that personally I need to buy a new bathing suit. But, since I don't go to the local beaches, do not have a trip to the Caribbean planned, and do not have a swimming pool...I guess I really don't need one. Do I???

Here are some great swimsuits that I know all of you beach bunnies are going to love as much as I do---

Polka Dot Bikini available at Forever 21- $10.80 (top), $9.80 (bottoms)

Spot Tie Front Swimsuit available at ASOS- $42.43

Xhilaration Junior's Stripe Two Piece available at Target- $17.99 (top), $17.99 (bottoms)

Fruity Suity by Esther Williams (plus size) available at ModCloth- $89.99

Vero Moda Silver Trim Bikini available at ASOS- $28.85 (top), $20.36 (bottoms)

Rocket Split One Piece available at Shabby Apple- $110

Be sure to stay cool, hydrate, and slather on that SPF!

Cooking Channel Fashionistas

I'm not going to lie, I watch more television than I should. The crazy thing is that I'd say about 50% of my television viewing is of food shows...especially on the Cooking Channel. My husband and I love to cook...and better yet, we love to eat. Even though I typically watch these shows for the recipes and the fun personalities of the hosts, I often watch it for the style. The added bonus of fabulous hair, perfect makeup, and a drool worthy wardrobe makes me love these following ladies even more!

Debi Mazar of Extra Virgin- her style is all about the drama, vintage dresses (that she cooks complicated Italian meals in), and glamorous hair.

Nadia G. of Bitchin' Kitchen- her style is a little bit rock and roll, very edgy, a little bit crazy (in a good way), and with a shoe collection that is out of this world.

Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark of Tripping Out with Alie & Georgia- these ladies are quirky, classy, and full of pizzazz!

What do you think about mixing fashion and food? As someone that is obsessed with everything visual, I definitely think this works. If these ladies were doing the same shows but were wearing boring jeans and a tee shirt (or worse, something frumpy), their programs just wouldn't be the same.

Urban Turban

This weekend I finally made it down to Joe Fresh for the first time. I know a lot of my Canadian friends have been raving about them for quite some time now. I have to admit, when I walked into the store I was in love. Super affordable prices, bold colors, and their items fit me so well (that is if you don't count the one item I bought that was obviously not sized properly...and my husband will be returning this week for me).

As I mentioned to everyone in my hangout on Friday, pants in my wardrobe are seriously lacking! So I was super happy to purchase these raspberry hued capri pants. Perfect for summer!!!

Another thing I totally fell in love with over the weekend was Garneir's Olia haircolor. Have you tried this product yet??? I was in desperate need of color because my hair is so white without it (even though I know nobody believes me, it is!) and didn't really want to spend over $100-150+ at the salon. So I thought I'd give Olia a try.

I was so impressed at how rich the color was! It also made my hair so soft and silky...and didn't stink! I know if I color my hair at home in the future I will definitely be using Olia. Take it from me (someone that has tried just about every hair coloring product out there), this really is the best hair color I have tried in a long time!

tshirt- Joe Fresh
capri pants- Joe Fresh
headwrap (scarf)- H&M
necklace- Urban Outfitters
sandals- Charlotte Ronson
sunglasses- Michael Stars

Personally, I'm still torn on whether or not I can pull this headwrap off. The more I wear it, the more it is starting to grow on me. What are your thoughts on this bohemian trend?

Wanna Hangout???

I have some exciting news for my readers! You all know I absolutely adore Google+ Hangouts (where you can video chat in groups of up to ten people). It's so fun and interactive...and a great way to meet readers that you normally wouldn't get to speak with due to geographical restrictions.

I'm happy to announce that one of my favorite bloggers from Australia, Sevan from Seven Autumn Leaves, will be co-hosting a Google+ Hangout session with me next week! Now since her and I have a 14 hour time difference between us (Sevan in Melbourne and myself in NYC) finding a time to hold this was rather tricky! This hangout session will be going on 8pm Friday, May 10th eastern time (and 10am Saturday, May 11th for those of you in Melbourne). For those of you in between here and there you can figure out the time according to your own time zone!  :-P

Up to eight people can join us for a chat about fashion, style, and trends! If you would like to join in on the conversation please leave your email address below in the comment section and I'll be sure to get you in the circle. Now like I said, there is only enough room for eight to join us...so I'll put the first eight on the list...however, if there are more than eight that are interested in joining us I will put them on a waiting list in case a space opens up. I do ask that you make sure you have Google+, a webcam, a microphone, and KNOW HOW TO USE THE HANGOUT SESSION FEATURE! If you have any questions feel free to email me and I'll try to help you out. It really is super easy!

If you know you cannot make it but still want to join in on the fun we are asking that you leave us some questions about fashion and we will try to answer them during the hangout. You can leave your questions in the comment section below, email them to me, or even leave them in a comment on my Facebook. The first portion of the hangout will be answering reader's questions...and then the second half we'll be talking about our favorite trends and how to wear them.

I'm also going to try to record the hangout session to share with everyone that cannot join. I've never tried recording a hangout before...so hopefully I'll do that correctly!

I hope many of you can join in on the fun! It's always wonderful meeting readers!

What They Should Be Wearing To The Oscars

Can you believe that Academy Awards are on tomorrow night? Typically I watch them...and I probably will this year too (or at least a little bit of it). I do have a few gripes about the Oscars:

1) They last FOREVER...
2) I haven't seen any of the movies.
3) It's on when one of my favorite shows is on (Girls).
4) The speeches are boring.
5) Did I say it lasts forever???

The part of this award show that is my favorite starts before the actual show. I'm talking about the red carpet! Isn't that the real reason we all tune in anyway? You gotta see the dresses!

I thought it would be fun to pick dresses that I feel the Hollywood starlets should be wearing...and then tune in to see if I'm right. Here are my picks for this year:

Anne Hathaway in Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture

Amy Adams in Valentino Spring 2013 Couture

Jennifer Lawrence in Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear

Jessica Chastain in Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture

Naomi Watts in Jenny Packham Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear

What do you think of my dress picks? I am seriously in love with that bright pink Oscar de la Renta dress...and would be so happy if anyone would wear it there. What do you think the stars should be wearing on their big night???

Will you be watching the awards or just the red carpet?

Kate Middleton Recycles Her Wardrobe

I think many of you know how much I adore Kate Middleton. What could make me love her more? The fact that she isn't afraid to wear her gowns more than once. I mean she doesn't have to...she's a princess for crying out loud! But, I think if I were in her shoes I would want to wear some of the amazing dresses over and over again because they are so beautiful.

What I want to know is what my readers think of the way she styled this look? The gown is stunning on her...but I guess I wish should would have made the two looks a little different. I really like the red clutch with the lace Temperley gown. But maybe she could have wore a red lip and a necklace or something. What are your thoughts???

Snapshot Fashion Is On Fiverr

I have been hearing about Fiverr for some time now, and recently went out there to see what all the fuss is about. I have to say, this site is so much fun! If you have never heard about Fiverr let me explain what it is. Basically, it is a website where you can buy or sell services for $5 a pop. Some of the services are very creative, helpful, and even funny.

I made an account on there for Snapshot Fashion where I will give fashion advice. Be sure to stop on by and check it out. I will be updating my gigs regularly, so be sure to keep checking back!
