*Wedding Weekend*

So you may remember a few months back when I was asking for your help to pick out a bridesmaid dress for my friend Holly's wedding. After having it sit in my closet for months I finally get to wear it this weekend!!! I can't tell you how tempted I was to wear it, but I know how clumsy and messy I can be. I could only imagine ripping it or spilling something on myself...so I resisted!

Today my husband and I are heading to the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. This afternoon we'll be going on a wine tasting...which I am so excited for! I have never been on one. Hanging out with friends and enjoying some yummy wine??? Sounds like an ideal afternoon to me! Saturday during the day we'll have the morning/early afternoon to ourselves. Not really sure what we'll do (we aren't very outdoorsy or into nature/hiking)...but will probably do some sightseeing and check out the surrounding areas. Then Saturday night is the big event!!! I'm just so overjoyed for her...and let's hope I can hold back the tears (which is rather doubtful since I cry at every episode of My Fair Wedding).

If you want to follow along on my wedding weekend adventures, be sure to follow my instagram! I'll be updating it regularly...as long as there is cell reception up there!

Help Me Pick A Maid Of Honor Dress

I'm super excited for May to roll around. My dear friend Holly, who I have been friends with since high school, is getting married! She even asked me to be her Maid of Honor...which was the sweetest thing ever. She's been the most easy going bride ever, but then again I didn't expect a bridezilla out of her. Since the wedding party is very small (just me, the best man, and her fiance's daughter as the best daughter) I get to pick my own dress. All she cares about is that my dress is emerald. Can you believe she picked that color before it was named color of the year?

Such a very old photo of us (I think about 6 years old or so)...but I love it!

The wedding is semi-formal and is going to be held in upstate New York's wine country near the finger lakes. I have been running dress ideas by her for the last few months. I know my dear blogging friends The AsianCajuns asked their readers to help pick Cath's dress for Lar's wedding a year ago...and it was really helpful to them. So hopefully my readers will help me out too!!! These are some that Holly and I narrowed it down to and I want need your opinion! I'm so indecisive, and I know if I don't pick something soon she might start freaking out a little. Haha!

Dress #1- Windy City Dress from ModCloth

Dress #2- Aubree One Shoulder Dress from Ann Taylor

Please let me know which dress you think I should get. Right now I am leaning towards dress #1...but I'm still not sure. HELP ME OUT!!!

*UPDATE: Thanks so much for all of your opinions! After seeing that the majority of you agreed that #1 was the way to go I showed Holly the feedback and she told me to get it. So I just ordered it! Let's hope it fits!!! Thanks again...your help was much appreciated!*

What's Old Is New Again

This weekend my husband and I took a trip up to Connecticut for my cousin Jocelyn's wedding. She was so lucky that the weather held out for her big day. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful. Not like I would expect anything less from her.

I wasn't really sure what to wear...a lot of my dresses (that fit me) are just too casual for an affair like this. So, I decided to re-use a bridesmaid dress that I wore almost two years ago to my dear friend Kelleny's wedding. Thank goodness she picked out a dress that I could wear again...and that didn't look too bridesmaidy! Have you ever recycled a bridesmaid dress to wear to another event?

The only thing that had me annoyed was that I brought my little camera and not my new one. So my photos came out so poorly! But I didn't really want to lug my Nikon around. Oh well...

Wedding Weekend

I had a fantastic weekend...and it's only Sunday. Friday morning my husband and I drove up to Pound Ridge, New York (avoiding all the PA floods along the way) to visit my cousin and her family. We stayed there over night and early Saturday morning my husband and I got in the car again to venture off to Dobbs Ferry, New York to go to an amazing wedding. Our friends Kristen and Matt were getting married right along the Hudson River (you could even see the New York City Skyline in the distance). Such a BEAUTIFUL day full of delicious food, lots of dancings, and fun artwork!

They had an artist there doing ink portraits. So original!

My dear friend Olivia and me.

The happy couple!

Kate Middleton---The Dress

So let me first start out by saying that I cannot believe I woke up at 4am today! I'm most certainly NOT a morning person...but there was no way I was going to miss seeing the royal wedding live. I would have actually wrote this post sooner...but I was still in my half-zombie state for quite some time. Thank goodness my four cups of coffee are starting to kick in!

For months everyone was predicting what Kate's dress may or may not look like, as well as who the designer would be. Also in question was how her hair would be worn, and if should would wear a tiara. This morning all of our questions were finally answered.

Kate's dress was absolutely lovely. She wore a gown designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Word is that Kate herself had a heavy hand in designing the stunning gown. What many are comparing this dress to is the wedding dress worn by Grace Kelly. Many have been thinking she would go this route for some time now, noting that Kate's sense of style is just as ladylike and classic as the late Princess Grace's.

As you can see Kate wore her hair down. I have to admit, I was really hoping she would. I love her hair! And the fact that she typically wears it down I feel that if she wore it up she wouldn't look quite like herself.

What did you think of Kate's wedding day look??? Did you love it as much as I did? Or did you feel that she would have looked better in a different style dress? Please share your thoughts!

A quick update---
I just wanted to put a photo up of Kate's second dress that she wore for her reception. I think she looks absolutely lovely in it. If she doesn't look like a princess, I don't know who does! Which dress do you prefer??? Kate's first or second dress?

Wedding Wear

Springtime is here, and you know what that means---WEDDING SEASON! I actually just attended a wedding about two weeks ago, and don't have another one until August. But I know so many people that are swamped with going to weddings over the next few months...so I thought it would be fun to put together a guide for attire. Hopefully after reading this and checking out my suggested looks you'll have a better idea as to what is appropriate and you won't stare in your closet for hours trying to come up with something to wear.

A couple other standard rules we have for wedding wardrobe---
~Don't wear white...leave that to the bride. But it your dress has white in the pattern (like black and while stripes or something like that) we say wear it. Just don't show up in an all white (or ivory) dress.
~Don't wear something that is too short or too tight. You aren't going to a club!
~Lighter colors are usually better for day weddings. Darker colors for evening events.
~If there is no set dress code take in consideration where the ceremony/reception are taking place, as well as the time of day.
~It's better to be over dressed than under dressed. But be smart about this...don't show up to a beach wedding in a gown. That's just silly!
